Analysis: A rose by any other name could stink up the Texas ballot
Political people in Texas know that the Rick Perry on the 2022 Republican primary ballot is not the former governor of the state. Do voters know?www.google.com

Daniel Miller...Lt Gov has more power and I will probably stick with Patrick although I'm not done researching.
And have to say was more than a little surprised when I saw Rick Perry was running again.
Honest, we have too many challengers, and that's gonna dilute the vote, and I suspect Abbott knows that. I'm gonna stick with a Texan challenger and plan to vote Huffines. West is too unprincipled about life for my vote.Okay, I am on the "pissed at Abbott" page for a couple of things, not the least his handling of Covid and that he talked a lot, but our border never got secure. Couple of other things that bug me: one, I don't believe that he has accepted one single invitation to meet with the other primary candidates in a public forum to share ideas. If he accepted, even once, I missed it, so if you know of one, fill me in. I know for a fact that the rest of the primary group has had several such meetings. Every time I read about them, it says "Abbott declined the invitation". Okay, TWO, is related: he seems to think he is already running against his Dim opponent. His ads on TV are about Beto and Biden, not any of his primary competition. Is he too good to even consider them?
Maybe it's just that simple. He will win the primary with no effort? It could be that he is just a savvy politico, but it comes across to this voter as arrogant and dismissive.
For now, I am mostly in the Huffines or West camp. If Abbott does win the primary, of course I will have to hold my nose.
It is not the same Rick Perry, he is just riding on the name. And have to say was more than a little surprised when I saw Rick Perry was running again.
Yep. And we will have the same problem in the next presidential primary, I strongly suspect.Honest, we have too many challengers, and that's gonna dilute the vote,
Huffines has the backing of some pretty good endorsements.I've kept up with West's career over the years. Other than the "abortion for rape" issue, he's been consistently conservative and pro-liberty over the years.
I don't know as much about Huffines. His voting record seems pretty conservative, and he's been a much louder critic of Abbott. However, I don't know if it's just for show. Abbott was pretty conservative at first....then he got a taste of power....
Prather may be a good guy, but he is a radio personality. Look at the clown we got last time we voted one of them in (Patrick).
The only ones who really want Abbott to win in the primary are Democrats. They'll either put a Dem in office due to lack of votes for Abbott, or they'll get their agenda pushed through based on Abbott's usual lack of effort to oppose it.
Right now, I'm leaning toward West. I will consider Huffines a good alternative.
… I dont think he was falling into the bloodlust authoritarian edict bullshit many governors got drunk on...
