I’m exploring more abilities of newer cameras. Thinking of using my Nikon to start a rumble channel. Problem is ideas are like ice cream flavors: every thing has just about been tried.

Open to ideas and if anyone wants to do something jointly pm me.

I’m hesitant to do anything gun related. Even rumbles terms are wide open for gun content to be removed. If gun content could be allowed I have some good ideas but I think my heart is in comedy.

If you end up doing gun content, try Utreon. It's basically a combination of YouTube and Patreon. It's newish, but unlike most YouTube alternatives, has a solid business plan set up. It's also gun content friendly. It's growing fast, improving constantly, and they are extremely responsive with questions and suggestions. The CEO (Edward) will more often than not respond to questions directly.

As of right now, they don't have the user base to match the amount of views (money) you can get on YouTube, or possibly Rumble, but I think that will change within a few years if they improving and getting people to come over to their site. If you are worried about your content getting wiped, post it on multiple sites. Rumble and YouTube might be able to control what on their sites, but not what's on Utreon's. It's a good back up.

Also, why not combine the two ideas? Gun comedy. ;)

Thanks for the link. Bookmarked. Gun channels are overdone but if I did that I’d use my experience to do tours and a closer look at manufacturing. Not so much because of guns but to help encourage jobs in that area. Not just manufacturing but gunsmithing is going to be a dead skill if we aren’t careful.

I wish you success if you decide to move forward.

I tried last year getting a fishing focused YouTube channel going. I made somewhere around 20 videos - 15-30 minutes long because that's what YT algorhythm likes and is best to get monitized in the future. It was a LOT of work, I hit a creative block. I wound up deleting everything. I'm thinking about rebooting / rebranding but damn its hard to make traction unless you stand out. Everyone is a content creator anymore.

For every minute of footage, expect to spend at least five to ten minutes editing unless you plan to just publish raw stuff. And invest in large SD cards, and maybe even a portable hard drive. I have a 1TB HDD in my desktop, plus a 500GB backup. I ran out of space real quick importing raw video. I did most shoots in 1080P - but the big push now is 4K. My action cam does 4K, but damned if that isn't a lot of space.

Also - batteries. To record a couple hours of raw footage, I would burn thru 4 batteries real quick. More batteries the better.

I just picked up a 400GB SD card - I was using 128s and 64s and filling them, especially when playing with 2.7K or 4K video.

Also, unless you already have Premier or another high-end video editing software, or you're one of the Mac fanboys with their iMovie (yeah, I'm jealous, because Micro-Suck removed Windows Movie Maker which was genuinely good for amateur video makers) - if you want a fairly good editing suite that doesn't rape your wallet - VDSC Video Editor is reasonable.

Forgot to add - I also created alternates / backups for my YT channel - I actually have Rumble too, plus I was on Instagram, had a Facebook page for my channels, and a couple other video sharing sites I've since forgotten.

Managing a channel was becoming like a full time job, and I wasn't getting paid shit, and wasn't getting the grass roots traction I had hoped.

Yeah it would be in 4K. Photography has been a tremendous help. I haven’t messed with video yet. I’m trying to master what I have with photography first and like I said it’s a huge help. So much to understand about lighting and capturing a good moment.

I have made the full move to Apple products. Editing seems easier.

Ultimately I’m just a guy looking to have fun or provide something helpful. I don’t want to do a lot of post editing but I know In order to do that I got a good camera and I’m building up my collection of mounts and stabilization gear.

You and Eze should hang out and talk fishing sometime. Both y’all seem to love fishing.

I thought about adding new life to a Texas gun talk type channel but that’s not going to happen unless mods, txcross, and pretty much most of the community is ok with it. But the approach I would take with anything gun related is kind of like the approach I took at working gun shows. It’s about welcoming new people. I have lots of ideas just need to figure out what I want to do.

I’m very interested in doing a channel that gets a behind scenes look at manufacturing. Hell im 10 minutes away from a barrel manufacturer. Get a behind look at things but promote gun jobs. Gun control is wrong because it can put people; good people out of work.

The post editing is a necessary evil unless you get everything you want, exactly how you want it, in one shot. Even then you have to chop out stuff, chop the slow parts out. Bleep out curse words if you even think you want a shot at monitization.

I'm a writer, actor, producer and of course, director.

I've done a number of videos, all about an imaginative fish who lives in a one gallon bowl on my kitchen table, but he can't speak English, so there's little dialogue...plus, there's no water in the bowl, so he doesn't move much...

    No one watches.

What do I gotta do to get me some 'patreons' and start making real dough?

I have a channel on youtube, screw the editing. I post from my iphone. Do it for fun, make no money and some vids have a couple hundred thousand views. Post what you know, especially if it is a solution to a problem that you have that there are not 100 videos out there about.
