    When I moved to the City of Burnet 7 years ago I got laughed at for saying it like Bur net they like Burn it in one word.

    The 'one-syllable' pronunciation also helps us remember it's not Burnett or Burnette. Just be glad it's not French...."Buhr-NAY" :)

    Guadalupe is still up for discussion, however :) ;)

    I was on a job in Burleson years ago and mentioned something to a local about going to nearby Joshua, pronouncing it, well, like Joshua. I was told in no uncertain terms that it was pronounced "Joshu-WAY" and if I said "Joshua" everybody would know I wasn't from around there. As if the fact that they didn't recognize me wasn't clue enough. Oh well.

    And I've been given the local skinny on "Andice"...properly pronounced AN-diss rather than An-DICE.

    Oh, the trouble caused by Mueller...pronounced differently by members of the same familiy!!!
