    Hi y’all!
As a child of 7 or 8, way too many years ago, I fired my first “large bore” rifle, a Winchester Model 92 or 94 (?) 30-30 while visiting my parents old friends in Colorado. That blazed an unending desire to have that rifle as a mature adult.
With the entry of Henry into the market, they have my attention. What’s the feeling out there on the two as a comparison?

Henry, Winchester, old marlins, uberti, older Rossi, new Rossi, mossberg. In that order for my preference. I will not own a mossy lever action.

I am curious where ruger will rank with the new marlins.

Henry is "pretty" but put one side by side with a Winchester or Marlin in the real world. The Henry finish is not nearly as durable. It will rust much quicker and in my experience it will wear quicker. I say this from wotking in a firearm business for over 20 years and having multiple examples to examine. Disclaimer: your experience may be different.

In my limited experience with side gate Henry's

Edges were VERY sharp, and the guns (.357 and .30/30) were a PITA to load through the gates. The .357 had my thumb bleeding after awhile.

I messed with an x series .357, felt very heavy. It says the weight is only 7-ish lbs, but it felt at least over 8.

Having both the tube and gate is very nice.
