Saw this on a friend of a friend's Facebook page
A lot of people don't realize the difference between sex and gender. Sex is what one is designated at birth based on one's genitalia, and gender is societies preconceived notions about sex. Gender is completely a societal construct based on the binary of Man and Woman (it's what makes us think blue and pink, sports and art, etc.) and I don't believe that those constructs should be a part of my life. I don't feel female (what I was assigned at birth), and I don't feel male, so I just sort of go with the flow without assigning myself
Gender is a very convoluted topic, and I am open to answer any questions I can, but it's honestly a very different experience for everyone. The main thing to understand is that parts do not define the person, and that gender is a spectrum, rather than an A or B choice.
Emphasis added by me.
Gender is NOT convoluted but it's the need of people to complicate the most simple shit that is causing us so many issues as a society.
Look, I don't care if girls want to play football or boys want to learn needlecraft. I don't care.
However, we do know that men and women often self-select certain activities because they are naturally drawn to where their abilities lie. So football will forever be a male dominated sport because there just aren't many women who have that level of aggression or even if they do feel the need to use football as an outlet.
As a matter of fact, the whole statement I copied above about gender flies in the face of what we know about the human condition. It is politically correct nonsense claptrap that ignores basic human psychology and physiology.
There will always be an exception to the rule, that does not invalidate accurate generalizations about genders because of a handful of deviants from the norm.
