    1. Glock...from their inability to safely fire +P, reloads, or lead ammo to their unsupported chambers. Does that really sound like "prefection" to you? Sounds like a bunch of deficiencies to me.

    2. The Judge....Only because of their desperate marketing. If they had marketed it as a snake/hog protection gun, it wouldnt be in my list.

I dont mean to pick a fight or start anything but that sounds like a lot of internet rumor.
Glocks inability to safely fire +P?

They are rated for them and my 19 handles them quite easily.

Inability to fire incorrectly charged loads is a different story and I would imagine any gun might bark it self to peices in that instance.

My brothers 19 has at least a thousand NATO 9mm through it and it looks, feels and functions just as well as the day he bought it. He fires is nearly every day. USAF Combat Arms Instructor has its privs.

A hot load in ANY gun will cause problems, period.

As far as the judge. I agree its over hyped but after seeing a two hundred pound hog taken with a Kelt Tec 380, I feel pretty confident that a 00buck 410 wouldn't have a problem, provided you could hit it with the snubby gun.

Im just north of you, we have the same hogs. People hold hogs in too high reguard. They arent super pigs.

Comparing handguns is like asking your choice between Budweiser or Coors, Ford or Chevrolet...etc....What fits your hand and budget and goes bang each pull of the trigger and hits where you aim, and your "pet" gun is the best....For you, until something new or different catches your eye and you gotta have it............
    Like Poker, dealer's choice.....

You of course are absolutely correct. But I guess I'm missing the idea of "most over rated" You see, I wouldn't put the Judge in that category, because other then the initial intro on that gun, not many people are on the band wagon, so it's just a gun looking for a purpose, and not really "over rated." Glocks I might agree on. There is a cult following on that brand, and although it's a reliable durable pistol, (have one myself) it has it's faults and I don't feel it's deserving of all of the LOVE it gets.

I'm afraid people are just posting against guns they themselves don't particularly like, and there will never be agreement on that.

I think that handguns in general are over rated.People tend to think of them as a magical death ray, and I've seen video of a guy empty a revolver at a DEA agent and miss all but the first shot and that hit him in the hand.
I think, that the judge is a great gun and I'd buy one of I had a need for a ranch gun to pack around on my hip and beat to hell. But I think as a CCW it's worthless that thing is huge. And I like both the guns on my list. I'm not the 92's biggest fan but it's OK I can't reach the mag release on it. Other than that the one I shot (a .40) shot pretty good. I just think they are slightly overrated.

I think the fanboys ruined the Glock. Is it the most ultimate handgun out there, best priced, most option laden? No, but it is just like a hammer. It gets the job done everytime, for a good price, without any hooplah. While I like them, I consider them a tool to get a job done, they lack the soul that many other guns have such as a 1911. Of I feel the same way about all the other plastic pistols out there too.

I like the look of the XD's they have kind of a soul to em. The new RTF glocks have a little but not much. 1911's have the soul for sure. I just don't find that many "overrated" handguns out there right now.

And there are no fanboys of the 1911's?

As nutnfancy would say, it is merely a 2nd type of cool. Pretty much all the handguns out there work for their intended purpose. Some carry more ammo. Some are easy to concealed carry, and some are easier to shoot accurately. Some are cheap to buy, while others aren't.

    It is all just details.

I don't think most brand name guns are "overrated," I want one of each.

I also think this is more the Ford v Chevy, Coors v Bud, 5.11 v Truspec, and the list goes on.

Are there people that in every category you could think of will without hesitation say Glock is better than Sig, or HK or Kimber, yes in every category. I like my Glock, I like Sigs, just can't afford them, same with Kimbers, most STI's (1911's) when I bought my glock it was a cost issue, I had shot it and liked it. I really wanted a Para Carry 9 ($300 more), but couldn't afford it at the time.

When you look at guns in various categories compact, sub-compact, 1911 frame, polymer and try to pick one that is better than all you will be overrating them. Yes they are tools, and tools have a purpose, some are unitaskers and some are multitaskers. You have to pick what suits your needs (or likes) and go from there.

Does anyone ever wonder if other groups of people, lets just say builders, get in heated arguments over the brand of construction equipment to build stuff as gun people do over which gun brand to use for the various uses?

    Just a thought.

EDIT, wow, that sentence doesn't seem right. . . . I hope Mrs. Brown (12th grade English) isn't on here.

Snap-on has some great stuff, but Matco's quality is usually identical and their stuff usually less expensive. Mac just sucks.

    IMO, of course. :p

Guys, Dont miss the point of my post. Just pick a gun and tell why you think its overated. I know that everybody will like a diff gun for whatever reasons, but I just wanted your opinions on the guns you thought were overated. I personally think it is the berreta. I have fired two of them and both had FTF issues.

Glocks, are hyped up, but they are not overrated in my opinion. I have seen them do just what they were designed to do, and frankly at $500 new, they aren't badly priced either. Most people just don't like them because of the grip angle and polymer frame.

Colts in the 1911 world are overhyped. Kimber's in the 1911 world are overhyped.

The Taurus Judge is massively overhyped.

For honorary mention, the Ruger SR556 is a pile of shit, and is thusly overhyped.

Speaking of Beretta. I know someone (through a friend) that bought the Taurus PT92 with pearlstic grips and gold plated parts. I asked why in the hell he bought it? He said the guy behind the counter told him its what the military uses so it must be good. He paid seven hundred and fifty bucks for it. What a rube. Hook, line and sinker.
Another Gander Mtn victim. We told him, myself and a mutual friend to call one of us when he went shopping and we'd steer him right. But no, now hes stuck with it lol.
I cant help but feel sorry for him, but we told him.
Also think the Beretta 92/M9 is overrated IMHO.
    Decent, but large.

With welders it's Miller/Lincoln/and that other one you know the one that sucks. LOL! When I was hanging shit rock it was De Walt vs The rest (I have a Ryobi 18V drill that works just fine and I have a De Walt screw gun that works just fine) Everyone that does anything has something to argue about. I'm sure doctors argue over what brand of stethoscope is the best, or who makes the best scalpel of the best little rubber hammer to piss off people with knee injuries with and the list goes on and on and on and on and..... well you get the idea.
PS Estwing hammers are in fact the best. But my Stanley hammer is still going strong.

    Ouch!

On the Ruger, saw it on a magazine cover last month (iirc). Meant to ask about it. On Kimber, I love the balance and overall feel in my hand, not so much in my wallet.
