308 SBR anyone?

Anyone made one into an sbr? Any challenges on finding mags?
There was a p308 ar pistol I was following on Gunbroker. The reserve was over $1K
Just wanting to know folks opinion on it.

I got a Vector V51 but I imagine you're talking about AR style rifles. G3 mags are dirt cheap, like $3 each.

The closest I've got to a .308 SBR is my LWRC UCIW Six8 SBR. It's got an 8.5" barrel but, as it's only 6.8SPC, it doesn't have quite as much blast as a .308/7.62x51. I do shoot it suppressed quite often. Here's a a sample . . .

My H&K G3K has a 12.4 inch barrel. It's a registered receiver not a SBR.

Yeah this SOB will make your teeth chatter and clear the firing line to your immed right and left. People behind you will take 2 steps back. Kick ass! Mine is a Noveske 12.5" Leonidas (which has an AR10 style lower, I've had no problems acquiring approx 20 mags for it). It's fun to shoot a mag or two through, but I take it out less and less these days.

I'd take that 6.8 SBR over a 308 SBR. But I'm a 6.8 fanboy!

You know I was thinking about this yesterday. But when I think about it I always end up at a 300BLK.

Is there an argument for either in SBR?

I cant speak for the .308 as a SBR but when it comes to the .300bo ideally you only need about 9" of barrel for complete burn when running subsonics so there's no lost energy vs. a longer barrel. Wit super sonics its a bit different story, you will loose about 200fps vs. a 16" barrel. Even with a suppressor mounted it will come in under 16"

Keep in mind the H&K 417, FN SCAR-H, H&K G3K, etc. were all designed as ~13in 7.62 NATO battle rifles. They seem to do alright.

found this post regarding bbl lengths and 308. I wish they had data for a 12.5" but 13.5" is close enough.

readers digest version. Velocity starts off lower with 13.5" vs 16". 18", 20" etc, as expected, but accuracy out to 900 yards isn't compromised at all.
