More detail:

"All those protesters last night, they turned around and ran the other way expecting the men and women in blue to protect them. What hypocrites!" an audibly emotional Patrick said.

As Gov. Greg Abbott issued on open letter calling on Texans to calmly unite and come together, Patrick took a more combative tone. He blamed Black Lives Matter protesters for the violence against police and said people "with big mouths are creating situations like we saw last night."

"We have to have their back," Patrick said of police. "And I'm sick and tired of those who are protesting our police and putting their lives in danger."

Patrick said he saw some of the slain officers wheeled past him at a Dallas hospital last night. If the violence against police doesn't stop, he said, police will stop working to protect citizens.

"I do blame people on social media with their hatred toward police," he said. "I do blame former Black Lives Matter protests. .... This has to stop."
His tone was diametrically opposed to Abbott, who took a more measured approach in calling for Texans and Americans to support one another in the aftermath of the tragic Dallas ambush that left five officers slain following a protest of police-involved shootings this week in Louisiana and Minnesota.

"Every life matters," Abbott wrote. "With each innocent life lost, we lose more of our humanity. It is time for us to unite as Texans, as Americans, to say no more."

Seems some of them went to Griffin & San Jacinto and looted a store. WFAA showed a ring of policeman having to protect the store afterwards.

His skills seemed better than a "carpentry and masonry specialist" from the engineering brigade.. I hope none of us gave him any training.

Some news reports are saying he used an SKS.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...l-white-people-especially-white-officers.html

reportedly wore body armor, which would suggest why a cop wasn't able to kill him when he confronted him in a one-on-one situation which was caught on camera. It resulted in the cop being executed. He also carried an SKS semi-automatic assault rifle and a handgun, and several rounds of ammunition, according to law enforcement sources.

I still don't understand why body armor is so intimidating. I mean they do still have complete legs unprotected. A shot to the legs or groin is very effective and a large target.

Most are trained to shoot center mass. Most fall back to training under stress.

As Younggun noted below, the officer most likely was shooting center of mass, i.e. trying to drill him in the heart with a 9MM, .40S&W or .45ACP handgun. Also, if the perp used his Army issued IOTV, he likely had ESAPI plates in it, so he had soft kevlar ballistic panels providing neck to groin coverage front and rear and soft panels covering hip to just under the armpit on the side, which are rated to stop hot 9MM from a submachine gun length barrel, or equivalent to NIJ IIIa. With the ESAPI plates, he'd have also been armored against M2 .30-06 AP for 3 consecutive hits, or NIJ level IV, so the 5.56X45 rounds in a patrol rifle that an officer might theoretically have retrieved from their squad car and the rifles generally deployed by the SWAT team wouldn't have been very effective either.

Said body armor isn't much good against the concussive effects of even a small explosive, which puts the DPDs decision to render him combat ineffective with an ROV and an explosive charge much more understandable.

Truth hurts!

I watched the very men and women being protested against use their own bodies to shield those protesting them! I'm sick and tired of the PC "we have to be nice" bullshit culture in this country and fully support what Dan Patrick said!

I saw an article posted somewhere but didn't read it in full. But the headline was one of the BLM protesters talking about how one of the cops used his own body to shield him from the gunfire. So these same people who have been calling them "murderers" were protected by these people they claim go "hunting black men".

Heather MacDonald has written extensively about the BLM movement and how they're full of it.
