Just about anything from Perry's is delicious but if we're specifically talking about steak, the best I've ever had anywhere is the House Marinated Rib-Eye from Bartlett's at 2408 West Anderson Lane. No fooling. I go there two or three times a year just to treat myself to that steak and I've never, ever found a better tasting one. Man, I may just go there again today!

My 2c, Manuels makes a fillet called "lomo de res". It's about $30 and everytime I eat it I think I'd have paid twice that and been happy.

    A chain restaurant? Really?

Bartlett's is definitely under-rated (and was as the former Houston's, too). Never had their ribeye but could see that working out well.

The big question - what CUT do you like, and do you like it rare, medium rare, medium, pork or chicken?

Seriously - the CUT might change recommendations.

AL&C is definitely hard to beat. Make reservations.

The steak at the Salty Sow the other night was excellent. They called it "petite filet". There is an option to get an extra filet for $10, which I would recommend.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but- when "Austin" and "Steak" are mentioned together in the same breath it should also include the name "Hoffbrau." I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned on the very first page. You really need to go try a steak that swims in butter from the old Hoffbrau Steakhouse, an Austin institution since 1932. At the very least, the reason you really need to try a steak from Hoffbrau is because when somebody says you really need to try a steak from Hoffbrau (and they almost always do) then you can say that you already done did.

Sure, but Austin Land and Cattle was the answer the OP was looking for. ( Best steak in Austin ) Hoffbrau is definitely a very good steak, but ALC is better.

So, where did you end up going SL?

ALC -> Flemings -> Trulucks for sure. Flemings is damn fine, considering it's a chain. The aged ribeye is the only way to go.
