I witnessed what I thought was about the oddest thing in the world today.

Maybe I'm seeing things, but at my age, I am still a pretty sharp tool.

We're wrapping up my 12 year old's birthday party at a "laser tag" park (think dense forest with a softball field next to it), we were all sitting outside waiting for the girls to finish the cake when a guy drives up in the parking lot. Hes about 25 yards away, my "OMG WTF" radar is not up, but I see him out of the corner of my eye. I have our 4 month old puppy tugging about every direction on the leash and I'm also watching daughter and the guests get up and kinda wonder about. Wife is watching too chatting with the few moms that showed up early to pick up their daughter.

This guy walks out of his car, my radar IS ON (* because of dress style alone, sorry to profile), and he has what looks like a white bag with both hands kinda "in it" ... I actually initially thougth, this is too cute, this guy dressed in thug wear, shaven white kid w the stupid baseball cap ... he's gonna feed the only 4 ducks in this tiny water hole, I'll kindly call a pond. That sent a red flag in my mind, but I'm supressing it. My Smith and Wesson is tucked close, 6 + 1 in the chamber and a safety away, but I'm not buried in that thought at the moment.

What does this Foo do? He walks right to the water, pulls out and object in his left hand (I'm thinking yeah, he's gotta toss some bread ...far... right?, to get those ducks to come over, but it's only 25 feet to them, maybe 50 foot wide hole as it is... ) HE TOSSES AS FUCKING HANDGUN. I thot for a few milliseconds in my head as I watch it spin... wow, thats some BLACK bread, but as the sun glissened off it slightly in the slow-motion-roll-over, I recognized the object ...then saw what I thought completely looked like a 45 cal, it was a tank of a gun, not small... an BAM! I snap out of the slow motion and hear a distinct BLURP! like it was at least 5 to 6 pounds and that was no gawd damn burnt toast, it was a hand gun. Make a heavy fake? IDK but it was heavy.

The guy then just walked back to the car. My wife walks up, who heard it, looks at me and says, what did he do? She also saw the confused expression on my face. I said "he tossed a weapon". We both saw his car exit the parking lot and sped off, getting some scratch on the corner.

Got the license, reported it. I don't toss my guns in the pond, lake or whatever. IN addition, I also noticed a van pull up and seem to witness it all and then left after it happened. they were parked parallel in the same direction, facing the water hole and saw it go down, I'm positive.

I might be nuts, but some around us have fewer brain cells. We need to respect these folks and put them in some type of mental care that is permanent and keeps them out of trouble. Anyway... thoughts?

    Hoji,

Highly likely OR possibly a "drug gun", that's been used in a non-fatality drive-by.

During a wagon train/trail ride some years ago, a guy drove past the horsemen & tossed a "near new" Colt's GM out the window of a car. = One of the security guys dismounted, dropped the pistol into a plastic bag & turned it into a local SD. - Turns out that it was stolen in a home invasion & later used in the hold-up of a liquor store in west Texas.
(The fingerprints on the handgun/bullets were used as evidence to send the felon to Huntsville for a LONG vacation.)

Don't you just love how STUPID that the average crook is?

Damn they are stupid. Why wouldn't nutless just wait until no one is around?

I would like to wade out in my wet suit and get it, because it can't be more than 4 feet deep, but I guess I don't getta keep the gun. Prolly shitty anyway. I hope the locals follow up on it, I gave them everything they needed to deal with it.

    Yeah

Definitely used in some crime. It'll be interesting if we'll ever hear the rest of the story...

I'll report it if the locals get back to me. I didn't make it up. I witnessed it.... and I got the license plate of fknuts. IDK> Why would someone involved in a crime, even potentially, dispose of a piece of evidience in the middle of the day, in front of other folks, especially a birthday party with other cars around, IN ADDITION to the odd van that showed up to witness it... ?

I'm not a troll type and I don't post crap for entertainment. Just a strange event that I reported. I would never see myself doing anything like this. I don't have any financial gain from posting this event I witnessed. More over, I might be exposing myself to something worse!

In the end, I enough to earn a living and not resort to hiding anything. Depending on your view, transparency is a good or bad thing.

    Peace.

    mancho,

Because the average thug is "just a little less intelligent than a rock". That's WHY.
(I long ago lost count of the criminal "geniuses" who claimed that, "I wasn't there", after we showed them a video of them doing the crime. = IDIOTS aptly describes them.)

Need one of those super strong magnetic fishing rigs I see people on YouTube use especially if it's only four feet deep! (Or just wait til August when the whole pond dries up... of course it'll be rusted by then).

Why does "reality show" pop in my head? One of those shows that videos people getting in an odd situation.

Guy throws gun, van has camera.

Criminals are stupid but that is just a little over the top.

I have no doubt you saw what you saw, and commend you for having the wherewithal to get a license plate and report it. As stated, there is no shortage of stupid criminals out there. He could also have just been a "disposal" man with no direct link to the actual crime (well, until now). However, it is concerned citizens like yourself who see such suspicious behaviors and report them, which gets cases solved that otherwise may not! Unfortunately, many would simply dismiss it not know it could be the only lead in an important investigation.

The last thing a person should do is to try to retrieve such an item their self. Let the cops do their job, and rest well knowing you've done society a service!

    Cheers! M2
