Have you ever thought that a threat assessment by a bad guy seeing someone armed may deter him from doing something bad in the first place? Nobody is telling you that you need to open carry, it's a personal choice. I haven't seen or heard of anyone being targeted by a bad guy because he was open carrying, so that is just conjecture.

I can think of two last year.

And if you include armed security guards the number grows quite a bit.

I have quit arguing the point with the OC religious fanatics. It is exactly like trying to use facts and reason to make a point to a liberal.

If you want to OC, awesome.

Are you going to add police officers next? ..... is it the uniform or the gun you notice first?

    Hoji,

    EXACTLY SO.
(Personally, I believe that every citizen should make up their own mind on things where nobody else is directly harmed.)

I carry essentially 24/365 and (except when camping/hunting/fishing) I only carry concealed, btw.

    Kinda interesting.

If you are in a gun free zone you are a target for a BG.

If you OC you are a target for a BG.

Only if you CC are you magically immune to being a target because you have a tactical advantage (once you are attacked).

I would still like someone to elaborate on a case or cases where a person that was open carrying was targeted. I am not saying it didn't happen, I just haven't heard or been able to find it.

Read what I wrote. I KNOW of two who were last year. I believe in facts. What I wrote and the words you tried to stuff in my mouth are quite different.
You know of two cases where OCers were targeted or the threat was deterred because of OC?

Your original response was vague and in reply to a comment that mentioned both situations.

I am definitely not trying to put anything in your mouth. Not really my thing.

HD dealer locally had an event for OC folks. Just this week I saw a vest rider with a drop thigh holster on his leg. Doesn't bother me. I would like TX to get Constitutional carry. Have OC folks been targeted? Probably not and it is a deterrent but just like LEOs face the risk of increased ambush, so do OC. OC in a secure holster and head on a swivel when you do.

Here is my point, and really I'm not trying to anger anyone. I can find many cases where someone who was concealed carrying was attacked, pretty much because the criminal didn't know that that person was carrying. In most cases it was a failed attack. I found something mentioning that a couple of times in Arizona where someone tried to steal an open carry gun, but in both those cases they failed. I haven't been able to find anything in Texas other than conjecture from those opposed to open carry.

Putting police and security guards aside since they are targeted for what their job is, not necessarily that they open carry. I would very much be interested to read about any case or cases involving open carry being targeted in Texas.

    easy rider,

Short of attacks on uniformed LEO (where the criminal is usually "attacking the uniform", rather than a person that he knows), I suspect that you'll be wasting your time looking as I seriously doubt if there are any such attacks.
(I suspect that there about the same number of verified sightings of "little green men from Mars" in Texas, as there are attacks on OC persons.)

    https://bearingarms.com/bob-o/2016/05/01/clueless-open-carrier-robbed-gun-arizona/

This article asserts that open carry is NEVER a deterrent. I think some cases here and there do not prove an all or nothing point that a person can be super confident in, either way.

The cocky attitude often put forth and description of open carriers as "clueless" is often a turnoff to any good discussion continuing.

I think that often the answer is "it depends" to the question is open carry a good idea.'
