    And the criteria for a bolt action sniper rifle is that it be ACCURATE! Remington actions based on the 700 model were winning bench rest competition's right & left at the time of Vietnam, and that action was designed by Mike Walker, one of the best bench rest shooters ever. Some of our elite units have even gone back to the 1911. Wonder why that is?

    He is also the employee that told Remington their trigger was F'd, but they didn't listen to him.

    well, not going off with no trigger pull is a nice feature, too... plus, the 700s of today are NOT the same quality of those at the time of Vietnam. Remington's ship has sailed- and then Cerberus sunk it.

    Well, as an AMERICAN and past & present Remington owner, I hope they come back, bigger and better. Other than an AK-47, I own NO foreign made guns. People on the handgun forum crow and brag about their foreign made handguns, some made by companies started by NAZIS after the war. I don't care how good they supposedly are, they are not made here and there are American handguns that are just as good.

    Well, Heckel & Jeckel (H&K) to their fan boys WAS started by former Nazis. And I won't buy any of their Nazi crap. They hate civilian shooters anyway!

    I honestly didn't expect Godwin's law to take effect in this thread.

    :roflfunny::roflfunny::roflfunny:

    Had to look that up....

    Godwin's law (or Godwin's rule of Hitler analogies)[1][2] is an Internet adage that asserts that "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Hitler approaches 1";[2][3] that is, if an online discussion (regardless of topic or scope) goes on long enough, sooner or later someone will compare someone or something to Adolf Hitler or his deeds. Promulgated by the American attorney and author Mike Godwin in 1990,[2] Godwin's law originally referred specifically to Usenet newsgroup discussions.[4] It is now applied to any threaded online discussion, such as Internet forums, chat rooms, and comment threads, as well as to speeches, articles, and other rhetoric[5][6] where reductio ad Hitlerum occurs.

    The Rem 700 receiver is the most utilized rifle receiver ever and no Savage can match the accuracy of these Remys here (the top 2 both with custom built Kreiger barrels).

    With actions going for $500 dollars I buy Remys cheap off knuckleheads for $2-300 bucks and have my old rifle builder turn 'em into tack drivers at any range.

    The Savage rifle is the best outta the box at the 800 yard range off the back porch in 2018, save a few old Weatherbys and Kleinguenthers, but it still won't make 7-800 yards MOA. For nothing touches a properly custom built Remy 700 for accuracy at range.
    And that is YOUR opinion
