Probably should have engraved my 4506 when I got it in '87. Didn't and still can't part with it. You will enjoy that 5906. They are a gun that can be called bulletproof.

I thought that in Texas guns that became property of the police were required to be sold if the owner couldn't be found?

They know who owns/owned it. If the owner is dead or in prison (disqualified from owning it) and no one legally lays claim to it. It's along the lines of abandoned. But in police custody.

Being stainless. It'll take a bit of sanding but the entire thing. Can be polished to mirror. Or have the frame blasted to cover it.

LIkely different now, but last I heard if no one claimed ANY property that had been taken, it was auctioned off.

They can be sold if the Court with jurisdiction over the case permits it specifically. Then the PD/SO gets to use someone to sell/auction the firearm for them. We get them put up on gunbroker by a friendly FFL who charges us nothing. We have been known to bid on such auctions on occasion . . .

That's a good-looking pistol, OP. I've got a couple of the CHP 4006 pistols and they're tanks. Rock solid.

The S&W 3rd Gens were/are great guns...the only concern would be getting parts, if needed. I don't think S&W is supporting these models any more. Still, at $200, that's a great buy!

$200 is a steal I wouldn't't pass up. I paid $300 for one a few years ago and thought it was a good deal.

Enjoy! I had a regular 59 and 2 of the 5906 that I enjoyed for a few years. They were great pistols and only sold them to fund other guns.

Believe it or not, I did it with one. I can't recall the mechanics of it now, but I do remember it was a pain in the ass. Years later I would find out the same on an USP.

Are you saying an HK USP is difficult to get apart, or is there another USP I'm not familiar with?

I've had a 59, 5906 twice and a 4506. Never had any problems taking them apart or putting them together.

The only gun that required 3 hands was a Sig Scorpion. It needed the ejector pushed down while pushing the two halves together. After I figured it out it wasn't a issue.
