Okay, details please. (Where & when, etc.)
Decades ago, a herd of New Mexico elk got separated from the main herd somehow. It is told that a series of weather events kept them moving west. I saw them in the winter of 2010, if I recall correctly , between Canadian and Booker. No high fence.
Nothing that would keep them where they were. Just a group of elk on the plains.
Probably 15 or so that I could see from the highway. Likely more beyond the horizon. It dropped of a couple hundred yards from the road.

    To be exact,
    Dropped Pin

I believe that’s what posts 27 and 28 were eluding to without coming out and saying it.

I almost hate to say it, but I do know two guys very well who had visual sightings of the big hairy guy... both in Oregon. Neither spoke of it publicly and both were seasoned hunters whose common thread was how the unbelief about what they were seeing almost immobilized them. There is something about the unknown that generates more fear than regular earthly terrors

Were they at The Jetty Shack beer joint in Surfside?
There is a woman named Scarlett that hangs out there.
    She matches the description.

I saw a guy at Dairy Queen in Winters once.
It was either big foot or the werewolf.

I have thought about the whole Bigfoot thing but not one time did I get a solid visual. So I can't say. It's correct that most people don't talk about things they see. Especially seasoned outdoorsman, and I do consider myself to have a lot of time spent in a nearby NF. It's a special place to me. There are areas no one has been to in a long time.

I will share my other encounter and opinion. First my opinion is this forest has an active bunker. I'm loaded with odd sightings but the most incredible one of all was the near same pond I talked about. I don't know why I woke up at 2 or 3 something. I was in the bed of the truck this night. No canopy. I just woke up and turning/hovering slowly over the nearest sattle silently; no sound at all, was what I can only describe as a giant black hexagon with red lights at each point. I definitely stayed awake and just lated there taking it all in.

There's a water hole SSW of Sweetwater.
It's a deep spring fed hole on a usually dry creek bed.
Lots of decent sized bass and catfish in the hole.
An overhang carved out by eons of floods nearby.
Carvings and initials of passers by indicate early 1800s.
I figure the Comanche were here centuries earlier.
The soot from countless fires has blackened the ceiling of the shallow cave.
It's a real oasis in harsh land.

    Gunz are icky.
When I was a teenager way back in the mid-1970's some school buddies and I went out on a ranch north of San Antonio to "camp out". Near Camp Bullis.
Basically we were told NO FIRES as it was summertime and the ranch owner, wisely, did not want us burning his place down. So there was no lights in our camp.
So there we were, sleeping under the stars.
I was laying on the bed of a flatbed truck looking up at about eleventybazillion stars. Nearby was a friend named John. He was also laying on his back looking up.
Colored blinking lights were common as S.A. has military planes flying around all night.
    But this light was different.
It was a green pulsing/glowing orb.
It silently zipped right up over us. I'm talking it was CLOSE. Like stand up and whack it with a broom close.
It just hovered there above us for about 15-20 seconds. Pulsing light.
Turning my head toward John to see if he saw it. He did.
It was so close as the green glow pulsed I could see the light lighten and darken on Johns face.
I turned back and and as silent and fast as it appeared it zipped off of out sight instantly.
I asked John, Did you see THAT?????
He replied, Yes but jo one will ever believe us so I will never say anything.
    Alien spacecraft? Naaaaa.
    Military drone? Probably.

    A movie star.

I had been to a New Years eve party at a ranch out on Hwy 114 W. It was out a long ways in Wise County. I left out about 3 am heading back towards Dallas where I lived. Its bitter cold out and I am running down 114 and this is back around '69 or 70 and it's the middle of no where. Way out there was a Propane gas place and it had a street light which lit the place up. As I go past, out of the corner of my eye I think I see someone standing under the street light. It gnaws at me and for some reason I decide to turn around and see what exactly it was.

It's woman is a long coat with a hood on it. I cannot believe my eyes. I pull in and ask if she is ok, she says she needs a ride into Dallas. Odd request I am thinking so I ask just how did you end up out here under the street light of a propane company in the middle of nowhere. She tells me she was at a New Years eve party and by 11 or so it was out of control with drugs and booze, naked people, and there was a fight and guy was shot, so she left.

Weird, but then I am more confused. Well, about the person you came with it, why not have them take you home. He came with a movie producer in a private jet and he had told her his wife had got sick and could not attend. Well she no interest in him and realized it was just a ploy to get her off and just he two of them...

So I ask her name, she says I won't tell you, I am a star and you would know me and I don't want this getting out which is why I left and have been walking for over 3 hrs and finally came across the highway and saw the light and walked to it hoping to find a fone or something.

I asked a lot of questions got some and none for answers, what movies, TV shows etc and she never budged. The hood stayed on her head the whole time. By now its around 4 am or so and she is getting antsy over finding a place to stay before sunrise...she does NOT want me to see her. I go to school over at UT Arlington and drop down in that direction. I find a nice place and she asks me to not pull in under the drive in due to the lights. She take out a purse and in the dim lights I can tell she will very well, expensively dressed, that ain't no Timex on or wrist and that purse is not a paperbag. (I only know this as the gal that I dated and engaged to was from a very well to do Dallas family she shopped at Neiman's, she dumped me right before Christmas). The gal gives me a $100 and tells me to get the room for her, because she does not want to be seen. She wants a room on the back side and to pay for 2 nights.

I pull around back, its dark and she takes my hand, thanks me, kisses the back of my hand, I can tell her hands are not dishwater hands. I ask if she needs anything does she need me to come get her tomorrow or anything, she says no, she will call her Manager later that day and tell him to get it fixed. She thanks me again, asks me to watch while she does into the room, I do, she closes the door and to this day I wonder who was that woman that even some 20 something guy not long back from Vietnam would know so well by sight I would know her name...

I could tell by here legs from the knees down, she was young, her hand were young hands, she was tall and the few glimpses I got of her face in what little light coming from my dashboard she was attractive, tall, slim, late 20's maybe early 30's possibly.

I believe that’s what posts 27 and 28 were eluding to without coming out and saying it.

Yeah, I was, but as has been mentioned, I doubt anyone would actually come out and say so if they had.

The majority of folks scoff at the idea, and I get it. I used to as well. But these days, I don’t.

I’ve never seen anything I can straight out claim as paranormal, but I’ve heard stuff in the woods that I could not link to anything I know of. And I’ve heard mountain lions screeching, fox crying, coyotes howl and yip, and coons bawling...I used to do a lot of predator calling in Alaska and Montana, and the sounds I heard were way different.

And for those who dismiss these cryptid creatures without thought, I’d challenge you to do some real research into the subject. You will find a metric shit ton of sightings by reliable, normal folks. And the more you listen to the witnesses, the more little details come out, and they are eerily similar.

Heck, you don’t even need to leave the Lone Star State...tons of sightings in the Piney woods of East TX and the hills of SE OK.

And the accounts go back hundreds of years. Every native tribe has stories of them. Even newspaper accounts of wild men, Wood boogers, skin walkers, Yowies, grass man, chicken man, swamp ape, etc.

There is so much anecdotal evidence to simply dismiss it.

You ever listen to Bob Gimlin speak, let alone talk of the day he and Roger Patterson made that famous film on Bluff Creek in California. I’m convinced Bob Gimlin is as honest a cowboy as has ever rode a horse. He has never waivered on what he saw. He’s somewhat of celebrity these days in the BF world, but he spent many many years being ridiculed for his story. And he never made a dime off the video.

    True, shows like Finding Bigfoot make it out as a joke, but google Bigfoot Outlaw Radio and listen to Coonbo, a retired NASA engineer. He’s been dealing with these things for many years. And listen to some of the witnesses on the Sasquatch Chronicles podcast. Another classic witness account was the guy named “Bugs” in North TX who called into Art Bells show years ago;

Way too much out there to call BS on this phenomenon...

Man.... I've physically clocked years in the cedar trees and have only found crap. Abandoned houses(vacant). Silver dollars in a barn (my youth). The rest has been rabbits, scorpions, mosquitos, rattlesnakes and rocks. Maybe a baby bird in between. Mamma opossum....those things.

Found a shopping cart. A ww2 issue type sleeping bag. Find a lot of fishing lures....

I've seen a few species that wildlife biologists and game wardens tell me aren't here.
If I may offer something second-hand, my father encountered Komodo dragons during WWII - on Leyte, way further north than anyone says they exist.

Actually, it was probably a related monitor lizard. Just a few years ago a large species, varanus bitatawa, was "discovered" on Luzon. So dad got the crap scared out of him by something science has yet to document and, frankly, I don't care if they ever do. His word is good enough for me.
