These threads exist on other forums and there is usually a good amount of humor and mystery in what outdoor explorers and hunters come across in the woods or sometimes just on the far reaches of their property. I have never found much, but I can count at least a dozen times that I found money from a bag of coins to a couple of hundred dollars, even in some very remote places.

    Gunz are icky.
Druggie stuff - pipes, syringes, etc.
Once found a plastic bag full of gay porn magazines. Way the hell out in the middle of nowhere. Who knows how it got there?
A glass insulator. Dated to 1871. Miles from any road or old railway.
The remains of a broken plate. I gathered up the pieces that I could find and tried gluing them together. Ended up with about 3/4 of an english blue porcelian plate.

I'm a magnet for weird stuff. Other than that just the usual cougars, bears and elks.

No items found other than neat rocks. I do have weird stuff if you want to read it.

Animal wise I came between two bull elk out of site huffing at each other. Another time during winter camping I was hacking some small branches up to get a fire going and it must have been that sound that made the biggest bull I have seen in person come my way. It was pretty foggy out and I turn around to see a pretty tall rack and the bull just checking me out. I went back to cutting wood and he lost interest.

A few bear. So in the summer I prefer to sleep in a cot, no tent, ect. Woke up one night to a bear getting a drink from the pond. Such sloppy drinkers. Anyway only woke up cause no f's are given when they walk. Every branch on the ground was snapping. No problems. Slept fine. The only time I got uneasy was when I woke up to a critter screaming. Probobly rabbit as I had seen them all over that day. That night after whatever it was killed I heard that cat walk on top of a mound just above my cot. Drew my light and 45 from the sleeping bag.

My dad, me and an uncle were fishing. Pulled the boat over to an island in the lake. My dad looks down, and saw something shiny under the water. Old Timex watch with a boy scout logo encrusted with all manner of green algae. Wound it up, and it still worked.

    I've still got it.

While mowing a field on my tractor, the wind blew a twenty dollar bill across my path.

ETA: Also while mowing the same place but a different time, found the remains of a popped balloon with a faded note attached. Turns out, the balloon was released from an “old folks home” as a form of entertainment for them about a month prior to me finding it. It had flown about 150 miles east (slightly southeast) to the field I was mowing. I had spotted the blue ribbon in the grass and decided I didn’t want it getting twisted around the spindle in mower deck - then I noticed the note attached. A lady at the nursing home told me they were glad to get a report back on one of the balloons!

A lost dog that was the same exact breed as the dog we owned. I came across her while mountain biking in the woods near our house in Belgium. After reporting it to the police, we were allowed to keep her after no one claimed her. Unfortunately, she passed away 10 months later; but the experience did convince us that having two dogs was healthier for them than just a single one. Once we got back to the States, we arranged to pick up a second dog; but our other dog also passed away during that time, so we ended up getting two puppies. Over eleven years later, the theory that two dogs would live better lives proved to work; they are much more active than our previous ones...

And all that because of a lost dog I found in the woods...

I have found women's underwear, bra's, hats, pants, some teenage girl's keepsake box, porno mags, full case of beer and a stolen car. While my property is somewhat out in the sticks, it's still real close to the city. Since my property is one of the largest wooded areas, closer to town with easy access, there's a lot of unwanted activity on the backside of the property, Which really don't bother us much, nothing down there to tear up or steal. My guess, mostly teenagers just out having fun, except for the stolen car. That full case of beer was def a nice find. It had only been there over night and was still cold, drank around 4 cans before I made it back to the truck ;)

Porn mags, pretty hardcore stuff for my young eyes. I found a car half buried in a creek out in the middle of nowhere.

A friend and I found my neighbors pot plants at the back of their land. It was covered in chicken wire, that's what caught our attention. We were probably 14, of course we stole the little plants and smoked it. I cant remember, but I don't think those little plants got us high.

    Here
While a constable's badge itself is not strange, finding one that was lost is very strange. I found one with my metal detector where an old rodeo arena was located up until the late 60's. I have found many things with my detector but the badge was my most unusual find.

This reminds me of a funny fishing tale.
A group of us were fishing from a boat at Lake LBJ.
One of the guys hooked something. He drug and pulled and drug and pulled. Eventually he hauls up something heavy. Turns out to be a fire extinguisher! LMAO.
He has never lived this down. Hahaha.

I was fishing the Lake Worth bridge when I found a wallet floating. The ID was a woman in Weatheford. I called every last name in the phone book trying to find this woman and return her wallet.
No luck, until finally, someone said call the police, that girl's been murdered. I called Weatherford police and a detective came out to see me. He gave me a ride to Weatherford to take my statement. As we were we riding, something came over the radio. The detective looked over and said:"You didn't understand that, did you?" I didn't. He said they had an aging officer, and he had just wrecked his car on the Lake Weatherford dam road.
So then we went back to the bridge where I found the wallet. He asked me about current direction, and told me they were looking for other items, so they were going to bring out divers.
That was the last I heard of it, until about 4 months ago, when a woman showed up at my door, questioning me about this wallet I found in 1983.
Turns out she was a defender in Capital cases. She told me the divers found what they were looking for. (Didn't know that.) She also told me the woman was murdered about 3 months before I found the wallet.
Why didn't they fry this guy a long time ago?
