    Texas Flash,

Fyi, I see no reason whatever to question things like whether a business has sold or not & that is printed in a regional newspaper. - That's normally NOT a controversial topic.

Also, I'm astounded that anyone would expect me (or anyone else on this/any forum) to go spend time looking for an article from 5 years ago or more.
SORRY but I have a life & have NO time to prove anything to you/anyone else. - You, otoh, are FREE to accept or NOT accept anything said on an internet forum at face value.

The denizens of forums whose comments that I find downright FUNNY are those persons who say, "IF you cannot provide an Internet link, I won't believe it." = Are those persons so out of touch with reality that they don't understand that "providing a link" means ZILCH about the information's veracity??

    just my OPINIONS, satx

    dennisz,

IF what you say is correct, someone should tell THE SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS NEWS, which about 5 years ago reported that WB had been sold to a NYC corporation.
(It was about that time that the quality of their burgers started going downhill.)

    yours, satx

your words....I (and others) are just trying to correct the misinformation. Sorry if you're offended. I just hate to see a Texas company accused of being owned by New Yorkers without evidence. Maybe it's just me.

    Texas flash,

ALL that I know about what was reported was that the EXPRESS NEWS said that it happened.

I've seen NOTHING here from anyone, including you, that makes me disbelieve what is nothing more than a report of a sale of a burger chain. - As I said, NOT a subject that a newspaper would lie about.

ONE thing that I do know is that the quality of their burgers has FALLEN compared to a decade ago by a factor of 3-4X.
(I've quit eating there at all.)

Personally, I hope that the report was incorrect, as I (as some friends here KNOW) generally despise DYs & especially NYC's liberals & government.

Whataburger® makes a damn fine burger in my opinion, and I'm quite proud the profit finds its way to headquarters in Texas. Still. I've loved it ever since moving to Texas in 1990.

Yes, there are better burgers out there, but in the realm of fast-food burger joints, I love me some Whataburger®.

"We've stuck to what got us here.
Since 1950, we've proudly served a bigger, better burger.
Over six decades ago, an adventurous and determined entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand, located on Ayers Street in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.”

Today, our founder's original vision still inspires everything we do. We're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order—when it's ordered. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. We still greet our customers with a smile 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And while we now serve hot, fresh food at more than 800 Whataburgers across the country, that burger stand in Corpus Christi is never far from our hearts."

Ole Cowboy, how dare you! Trying to confuse satx78247 with facts!

    busykngt,

I'm NOT confused. - As I said, IF the EXPRESS NEWS is 100% WRONG, I'm pleased.
(Guess what, NO newspaper is correct all of the time & the leftist NYT & WP are wrong/dishonest about as often as they're honest.)

They still need to warm their BUNS! LOL!

    LOCKHART,

What they SHOULD do is BUTTER/TOAST their buns, as they once did.
Fwiw, I once in "school daze" worked part-time in a burger joint & toasting/buttering HB buns isn't hard/much trouble.

I agree, I miss the heck out of those buns. It took a separate machine to do it, undoubtedly something to do with the practice's demise.

Still a damn good burger for a franchise fast food joint. (At least they still use original Whataburger mustard!)

    SloppyShooter,

"In the days of yore", when I basically lived at WB as a teenager, the buns were buttered/toasted on the same grill as the meat/cheese were.
(They also once had freshly hand-cut steak fries in Galveston's franchise too.)

NOTE: Watching the mini-bikini clad (and near NAKED) coeds at the picnic tables were BETTER than the food by far.
(Btw, I've wondered WHY females will be that nearly naked in public but be very embarrassed to be spotted in their house in bra/pants that are usually "more covered-up".)

What if you are wrong? What if the newspaper never said that? You post facts (as you choose to believe) but refuse to back them up with any kind of proof. You leave it up to us to prove or disprove what you say.

We are just supposed to believe all the BS you post and if we question it you then we must be foolish.

I read all your posts like fake news since there is never anything to back up what you say.

    Dawico,
It’s called the ‘Art of the Conversation’ (see what I did there?). Never say one thing without also saying something else that leaves you a way out. Plausible deniability. We have some guys that have ‘MS’ (More Shit) degrees in it. But they’re typically out done by those who have PhD (Piled higher & Deeper) degrees.

    [All in good natured fun]
