I saw somewhere a report the filler was fireworks powder, which qualifies as an explosive.

I’ve yet to hear anything about a trigger, blasting cap, or igniter.

ETA: PVC tubes don’t contain an explosive charge very well, either. One of the end caps, even glued on, usually gives up the ghost and it turns into a rocket.
