In the mid 90s our sheriff had almost the exact same setup. My 5 year old self thought it was the coolest thing ever. I asked my Glock-carrying dad what kind of gun it was and he said it was "an old man's show gun." Of course, my dad was the first in the department to carry Glock and he still swears by them.

I'm an old man and I wouldn't mind showing it.

I found this on the net but I actually knew a Ranger that carried a 1911 with Mexican Silver grips very much like those; don't remember his leather being that ornate. His name was Merchant and well respected in West Texas.
