I understand where your coming from Easy. That post is all truth. Plenty of fantastic riding right here in our beautiful country.

Thanks for sharing the pics and adventure.

Might I ask...? What was the highlight of that trip? That experience that stands out above all.
Many highlights, but I had a blast at Sturgis.

Honda is bringing back the monkey. If my gf gets her motorcycle license I'm thinking about getting one and letting her ride my scooter

I do enjoy these motorcycle picture threads. I'm still in the process of rebuilding the engine on the ZR1100. I no longer have the '80 KZ750. I do still have the Coonan though.

When I was cool. One last pose before the KZ goes into long storage as I PCS to germany in 1981.

I'm much cooler now circa 2005. Not the same KZ. I no longer have it, but I do still have the Coonan.

At the moment I am in the process of putting the ZR1100 engine back together after it developed the dreaded 2nd gear issue. This picture was taken back in 2006.

My 2005 CBR1000RR, after the wreck.
Picture was taken by the friend who brought the bike home.
The text was also added by him, I evidently hit a tar snake or something in the turn.

Crashes suck... this is one of my worst (well.. you'll understand why):

When things are working better for me (that is my loud-mouth faster-than-all-of-you buddy on a newer bigger bike to the left... LOL):

I broke a collarbone at Texas World Speedway on the Suzuki, and one on the street on the Kawasaki, both shown in post 66.
On the Honda above, I broke my left ankle and have 3 screws in it now.
Funny thing, there wasn't any marks at all on the race boot I was wearing at the time.

I broke my collar bone on FM965 near Enchanted Rock Jan '07. And I culled a doe Whitetail from the statewide herd.

    What year did this happen?
    Bout 80ish

I hit a buzzard in the road with the Kawasaki.
It was taking off from the side of the road, I was probably doing 90 or 100, and it hit the right handlebar.
    Didn't wreck though .
Wow. Went on a ride at Cranfills with the DFW ZRXers and the leader rounded a curve (100+ of course) with buzzards in the road. One bounced off the windscreen and hit him right in the forehead and stood him straight up in the seat, knocked him out cold and pulled his hands off the bars. Bike slowly eased off the road and through the ditch and through the barbed wire. Few posts and a tree later we flew him to Waco.

He ended up fairly ok for the most part. Me and two others went on to Waco, the rest went home. we were headed to a rally in Austin that day. Bummer.

Just an amazing similarity in stories.

OUCH!! I've been fortunate to only lose skin and pride. Most of the people I know are sporting a fair bit of titanium, and a few have shed their mortal coil on the street.. :( More and more I just stick to the track.... ambulances are close and everyone is (almost always) going the right direction.
