    Damn......how cynical.

While I don't dispute there are plenty of liars, cheats and otherwise lazy 'ner-do-wells scattered amoungst us, most of the folks I choose to hang out with or otherwise call my friends and acquaintances are pretty decent at a minimum. Maybe I'm being naive, but seems that an NRA fundraising event might bring out a more decent class of the freedom-loving type.

Don’t bother. What you are seeing is basically emo virtue signaling.

No different than lefty virtue signaling. Just pretend the world is such a horrible place that you are somehow better than it is. Then post about it on the internet so everyone knows how emo cool you are with your pissy attitude.

In NV, they booked the events at casinos, all of which are avowedly anti-gun. I wrote to the district rep of FNRA (who lived in Kommiefornia) about supporting anti-gun businesses, and he ignored my concerns.

    Out here by the lake!
They don't panhandle. They have a dinner.
Ok here's the thing. I posted panhandling by mail & we see you response above. To think my information from attendance would not be use to mail out more pleas for money is not a risk I would take.

Just like when The NRA has a raffle in the magazine. Enter those & pay the minimum raffle ticked price & the junk mail prevails.

I have been an NRA member for a pretty long time, & became a life member when I could afford it. I also have been around board member both past & currant @ NFA events & was told very bluntly to STFU in regards to NRA & their NFA policies.

Does the NRA defend our gun rights? I certainly hope they do. I'd hate to act like Bush senior & throw away my membership because I was butt hurt. Hell the magazines need to all be combined into 1 so I could fore seeable have something to read while taking an Obama. To think the magazines are not paid for & profitable by the ads in them is crazy.

For those who just haven't gone, please consider finding a local dinner and go to it. You might be surprised at how much fun you have hanging out with people who like guns and believe in Constitutional rights.

Can you guarantee that there won't be any FUDDs there?

Thought you can carry at the casino's, just not on the gaming floor? At least, that's what I've been told when I was there (and carrying).

Come to ours in Seguin, and you might sit next to some of us that would consider YOU a FUDD.....lol The SA group is a pretty cool group, as well. But again - I'm there to support the sport and our rights, not to see who I agree with. Folks, we've gotta stop fighting amongst ourselves. Learn to agree to disagree and move on - or the anti's WILL win.

Why do you go to the FNRA events? Do you go to support the 2A? Or do you go to have fun? If you go to support the 2A, why not take the money that you spend at the FNRA events and give it to the organizations that ACTUALLY fight for our 2A rights?

You can carry concealed anywhere in the casinos, regardless of signage (signs in private buildings have no force of law - for now). However, if they figure out that you're carrying, they may ask you to leave. If you refuse, they'll call the police and have you cited for trespassing.

The casino operators have supported just about every gun control scheme proposed in recent history.

As for attending the Seguin function, I just might do that to meet some like-minded folks. :flag:

First of all, the FNRA is NOT a political lobbying group. They promote the 2nd Amendment through public programs, supporting education, firearms training, local LEOs, JROTC, etc. It's about POSITIVE actions to build support, not about fist-fighting the opposition.

Part of that POSITIVE activity is getting together with other 2A folks and HAVING FUN. Lots of people bring their children and even grandchildren to the events.

As for those organizations that propose to be "better" than NRA, this thread was not intended to jump into that debate. When it comes to getting votes on real bills, none of those organizations has come close to the pressure that NRA has been able to produce. Yeah, sometimes compromise sucks, and while I might be far more aligned with the very conservative groups, I have to face the reality that sometimes you have to have some give-and-take or you risk losing important votes. Again, this has nothing to do with FNRA dinners.

The NRA is divided into 3 groups. The basic NRA, which has political and non-political functions, the NRA-ILA, which is nothing but lobbying, and the FNRA, which is not allowed to do any lobbying or give political support.

You are right, the NRA does have a lot of power. They have had the power to help pass EVERY federal gun law!

And you are right that compromise sucks because every time the NRA compromises we lose more of our right to keep and bear arms. Every time there is a compromise the anti-gun folks get some or all of what they want and we get nothing.

Since when is it OK to compromise away our rights?

Because that's not the purpose of FNRA. They raise funds for the shooting sports - everything from ammo to guns, duty rifles to body armor (for LEO's). I've been part of Grant Committees that handed out over $400k for South Texas alone.
