40 years ago, was a big supporter of DU and gave thousands yearly. Got to where the events were costing more in administration, and bringing in fewer dollars to put where it counts.

What started out as an effective organization turned into an industry pushing 'feel good', at the expense of the original goal.

My local DU dinners are straight garbage. Our company used to donate so we used to go all the time, but one year when they were introducing the sponsors, they mashed up our company name with direct competitors so after that my boss said no more. (first syllable correct, second syllable, not so much)

Also, never seen so many Mossberg 715t Tactical .22lr's go for $1000 (4 at one dinner). Sorry, I ain't that drunk.

TR, I think we reached out to those who were ever going to listen.

I'm hoping to go to the Tomball dinner in May and the Cleveland dinner in August (if for no other reason than to see Curtis).

Don't go because I am not a friend of the NRA. I feel sold out by the NRA & TSRA.
I did not renew this year and won't until management puts us back in charge. Peppy LaPew needs to be term limited. They sold out on bump stocks. In Texas they sit around until its too late and then say, well, we tried. I need a group to join that won't back off and tell me they tried.

You are right, the NRA does have a lot of power. They have had the power to help pass EVERY federal gun law!

And you are right that compromise sucks because every time the NRA compromises we lose more of our right to keep and bear arms. Every time there is a compromise the anti-gun folks get some or all of what they want and we get nothing.

Since when is it OK to compromise away our rights?

I hear things like this often, and understand the frustration, but I have to ask...where do you think we would be if there was no NRA or TSRA, and only the GOA?

Once again, THIS THREAD IS NOT A DEBATE OVER THE POLITICS OF THE NRA.

    FNRA IS NOT POLITICAL.

I do suspect that certain posters must NEVER follow any sports team because they don't win 100% of their games. Of course, they don't seem to be able to comprehend the purpose of this thread, despite that purpose being re-posted several times, so the complexities of politics would probably be tough. Then again, as my grandmother used to say, "Some people would argue with a door."

We would probably have 1/2 or less of the gun restrictions that we have today.

FNRA IS PART OF A POLITICAL ORGANIZATION, THE NRA!

I DO NOT LIKE THE NRA'S WAY OF DOING THINGS OR IN A LOT OF CASES NOT DOING THINGS. THEIR COMPROMISES ARE THE REASON WE HAVE THE GUN RESTRICTIONS THAT WE DO.

THAT IS WHY I DON'T GO TO ANY FNRA FUNCTIONS. IS THAT CLEAR ENOUGH FOR YOU?

The NRA was founded in order to correct the woeful lack of marksmanship by Union troops in the Civil War. Period.

    No "gun safety" nonsense.
