There's around 100 million cows in the US. Official estimates usually have it around 95 or so.
I tried to find the total estimate you gave but can't find it. Care to give the source ?
Texas & Nebraska are the top 2 producers of beef according to the AG office in DC.
I'm not a huge fan of pork myself & Charleston Heston knows all about that soylant green stuff (saw the movie years ago).

What I know is that the cattle market fluctuates like the stock market based on supply and demand. Demand for beef and supply of grass/feed are major factors.

If we were in such a dire situations we would be loading a trailer right now to cash in. Prices for cattle haven’t gone through the roof so there is no major beef shortage.

Localized food shortages are common during major weather events and holiday weekends if you live near a popular lake.

Also, if you name your site “the economic collapse blog” you’ve gotta have a catastrophe or you don’t have a blog. No different than every other org or blog that’s forced to manufacture a new crisis every week in order to justify its own existence.

Maybe you missed the part where the Nebraska Governor said "never seen flooding like this in our states history".
Only time will tell the true story but why not get ahead while we can just in case.

Round 2 super storm (like last month) is now in full swing till Fri.
    Worth watching in any case.

Oh, I see that HEB has beef roast on sale @ $2.47 per lb. right now.
I always get a couple to make beef stew mmmmm good it is

Nope, I did not miss anything. Hyperbole.

I don’t know what all the fuss is about.
If you are the type of person that is woke and aware, you should always be in at least a moderate amount of preparedness at all times.
Stories like this about other locations, while concerning shouldn’t cause panic.

According to NOAA some serious ramifications will occur & round 2 will add to the misery.
Serious flooding all the way down the central states to Texas
I'll watch & see what happens.

"The NOAA Is Warning Flooding Could Extend Into July"
    http://endoftheamericandream.com/ar...aa-is-warning-flooding-could-extend-into-july

Ok, I followed the link. Lots of doom and gloom.

Things that strike me as click bait/fear mongering:

Phrases like “one meteorologist said”. You can find one person who says almost anything.

Phrases like “according to CNN”. The 24 hour news cycle requires major stories. If you want viewers you have to make people believe bad shit is happening or they won’t watch. Everything is the end of the world

Clicked a link to the weather channel which was supposed to be a source for their info. It was, and they weren’t outright lying, but they were being very loose with their interpretation. Weather channel said “above average rainfall”. Almost half of rainfall totals are above average. Almost half are also below average (that’s when they will scream about the world ending drought), and a little bit is average by the numbers.

The Mississippi basin ALWAYS floods. This isn’t news. Part of their info gleaned from the weather channel link.

They claim millions effected. Well, sure. Lots of people in those states. “Effected” doesn’t mean lives destroyed. They frame it to sound terrible but in reality it doesn’t mean much. Not technically a lie, but misleading as hell.

I don’t think I would trust anything coming from that site. In my short time checking their links I found that one went to a Weather channel page that wasn’t anywhere near as apocalyptic as they imply. Another citation link went to another article on the same site that linked back to the same weather channel page. I didn’t even bother to click the “one meteorologist said” link because frankly one meteorologist doesn’t mean much even if they aren’t just taking him out of context or exaggerating his forecast.

Maybe I’ll be concerned next year when they tell me the world is ending because of the same crap we deal with every few years between droughts.
