If dad had more of (or any) sadistic streak, maybe... by as hard a man as he was, sadism simply wasn't a part of his personality. Thank God.

Before there was a war on drugs this stuff was sold over the counter. No cartels....... Suddenly they were made illegal and now we have a "War on Drugs" where the cartels are making billions and ruling countries by fear. Because we made it illegal and a Government industry that consumes billions of our tax dollars.

We're up to thread #13. It's about time for me to post.

Marijuana and plant form psychedelics should be legal. Anything that was placed on this earth by our creator should not be governed by any human or government.

    Fissionable uranium?

U-235 occurs in nature and continues to be, presumably, part of our Lord's plan.

    I want some too.

    .................

I agree with you regarding cannabis products.
    Opium, U-235 and cocaine, though???
    Less than full agreement.

Our creator? I wonder is she agrees with you.

Ah, the "should you be allowed to own nuclear weapons too" argument. An argument that's completely unrealistic.

You'd better start digging then because U-235 makes up only 0.74% of all the Uranium in the Earth's crust. It's gonna take a lot of money (millions) to separate it from all the U-236 you're going to find.

    Here's a map, have fun.

    Location-of-uranium-deposits-in-Texas.png

Let me know when you get, oh let's say about 64 Kg of 80% enriched Uranium. Then you'd have enough to recreate the Big Boy bomb. You do have the blueprints for that right? I lost mine in a fishing accident and I'm having trouble finding anyone who actually understands how to build a nuke. It's almost like they are few and far between and are hesitant in letting that info get out. Crazy right?

See why it's so unrealistic? How many decades did it take North Korea to get something even remotely usable? They had far more money and connections than you'd ever be able to come up with, and their nuclear weapons program is still complete shit compared to everyone else's.

    I've long wondered about something.

I'm still looking for a geologist or some other earth scientist or chemist to explain to me what chemical or physical force, over innumerable eons, to cause particular elements to accumulate in a particular location in the earth's crust. The phenomena particularly puzzles me regarding elements that are inert and non-reactive such as gold.

It happens all around us. How and why and is it occurring presently?

Don't forget another reason, the consumers.

Cocaine, Heroin, Meth, Shrooms, MJ, make it all legal and let the chips fall where they may. OD's fine. Increased STD's fine. Increased divorces fine. Increased families torn apart fine. Increased violent crime fine.

Legal or illegal is merely a court definition and in no way determines the social morality of the decision. I mean, hell abortion is not only legal but we have govt. funded infantcide.

Nope, the real reason is the dark heart of man.

Rational societies need to make rational decisions.

It's probably rational, at this time, to allow responsible use of alcohol and THC. Control it, tax it heavily and monitor the chips falling closely.

And quit spreading the too-oft quoted nonsense about infanticide. It's emotionally inflammatory nonsense and nothing more.

I know alcohol use increases STDs and Plan-B sales but I'd never heard of pot contributing to irresponsible sexuality in the way that alcohol has been shown to!

Inflammatory nonsense? When the left is pushing, embracing and even celebrating the ability to kill up until the moment of birth, perhaps even after, this "nonsense," as you call it, can't be repeated enough.

Oh now you done did it. Next margarita I get at happy hour and I am gonna post here with a pic.

I hang out with some pretty well to do people, one guy owns a minor league BBall team, others have multiple houses and make decisions on hundreds of million dollar projects. All successful and all decent drinkers. Hell, I bought $2500 worth of alcohol for a party. I doubt that would be possible if they were all tokers. I really don't think it is a fair comparison. That said, I'd be ok if alcohol was banned too but that cat is out of the bag so why make it worse with legalizing MJ?

I’ve never taken an illegal drug in my life. However, I’ve known several very successful people who are either current of former marijuana smokers. I don’t think marijuana use precludes success in business.

Personally, I don’t care what other people eat, drink or smoke. Even though I find most pot smokers to be annoying.

Yeah, I don't doubt it but successful MJ smokers would be the exception and not the norm. I mean how many times do you see Cops or Live PD and they stop an Audi sedan where the couple is dressed to go to a Del Frisco's dinner meeting and they smell pot in the Audi? As opposed to all the POS cars where he just smoked a blunt, has warrants, and is already on probation? Just saying.

Everyone knows that successful people don't smoke pot. Their drugs of choice is alchohol and cocaine. It is much more sophisticated than pot.

Actually, of the more successful people I have ever met that I know for a fact did drugs, cocaine was their drug of choice. The reasons? Smaller package to hide, no tell tale odor and a better buzz. Harder for most people to realize they were high. And pot was considered a poor man's drug and less classy.

    Ya.

That's the part that is nonsense.
Nonsensical and fanciful and politically charged manipulative falsehoods get repeated so many times that some people start believing them.

    Fact check it.

I don't buy into conspiracies and hogwash, but at the same time I also have the luxury of not having to "fact check" shit I've seen with my own eyes and heard with my own ears.

    Good grief......
