It kinda does. The NRA has a history or promoting things that don’t benefit its members or citizen’s rights as a whole. And if they want to do more than half hearted effort to help fight this then I’m all for it. But in all honesty it would them if it passed. If it passes then it’s a talking point to increase membership. If it doesn’t then they’ll do what they’ve been doing, taking credit for 2AF, GOA and others have been doing.
I was sure looking forward to Wayne "Pepe" La Pew getting that $6Million mansion for us all to come and party in...er...I mean to stay in when we visit Washington. I'm sure that he would let any NRA member come stay with him when they are in the neighborhood. It would have saved us the trouble and expense of getting a motel room and besides I hear that much of DC is not such a great place to drive through or stay in due to the natives being restless...

The dim o craps have been passing every stupid ban bill they can think of in the House. We have been trusting that all these crap bills would die in the Senate. Mistake, big mistake...

    Email your senators.

We need a repository of well written, letters that could be sent to our elected state and federal politicians covering a range of 2A topics that are rational and coherent.

    Who wants to volunteer.

Keep in mind that the AWB that ran from '94 to '04 came into being and went out of being at a time BEFORE the Supreme Court decided Heller and then McDonald. This is a very important thing to ponder, as regardless of how we in the 2A community may have felt, it wasn't until Heller was handed down did we have the solid leg to stand on that the right to keep and bear arms was an Individual Civil Right. It was not a right owned by the State, but by the individual citizens themselves. And then, when McDonald was handed down, that individual civil right was secured as against the State and not just as against the Federal government. This was done under the quaint doctrine known as "incorporation" under the due process clause of the 14A.

Then, when you reread through some of BenEnglish's comments regarding US v. Miller, you find that there's quite a lot of precedential value there that can be wielded in favor of the 2A community.

No, a federal AWB like the one that happened in the 90s would not pass legal muster in today's environment. Just remember--FEELZ don't mean dick.

What did they do when they had full control 2016/2018?
Newsflash: The Rs didn't have "full control" from 2016 to 2018, though that's a popular talking point. Rs had the House, but they did not have >60 votes in the Senate, which is required to have "full control", and we're not even talking about what would be needed to override any veto.

Seriously.....I don’t see much if any firearms banning taking place. A large chunk of our nations tooling and manufacturing base is in firearms not to mention the revenue and taxes it generates in many different areas.

    diesel1959,

Don't try to explain WHY the Senate did little when the GOP had the HoR.

The GRIPERS/WHINERS/COMPLAINERS "just don't get it" & likely never will. = Those clueless types would prefer to sit in the corner, to MOAN, WHINE & WHIMPER.
(UNHAPPY people often LIKE being UNHAPPY.)

IF you can find/order a copy from ILL, get/read: LUST TO FAIL. = The book states that SOME people actually WANT TO BE A FAILURE, as they ENJOY wallowing in self-pity & will NEVER be HAPPY with any successful result.
In the event that those pitiful people do succeed at something, they then say, "I got the promotion that I wanted but I wanted more." & actually feel DEPRIVED that they weren't promoted to an even higher level, even if they are not qualified for the higher position. = WANTING to excel is one thing but being SAD & SELF-pitying when they achieve a goal means that they are simply "mentally sick".

Every time a dem bring up banning firearms I respond by mentioning how well that works in Mexico.

They stfu pretty such or change the subject because it’s obvious it doesn’t work. Reality don’t lie.

And WHY didn't the DEMS ban so-called 'assault rifles' when they DID have 60 votes from 2009 to 2011 ? Because enough dems and RINOs feared not getting re-elected. Is it still that way ? I guess we will see in September.

    WAYnorthTX,

I suspect that when the Congress comes back to DC from yet another "vacation" that the DIMocRATS & RINOs will whine, moan, complain, posture, rant about "assault weapons"/"comprehensive background checks" & in the end will DO NOTHING whatever.

VERY FEW of the congress-critters are really STUPID enough to believe in what they RANT about "wanting to pass" constantly. - IF they actually passed any of their "proposals", they are at least smart enough to KNOW that such laws would be a 100% FAILURE, as the so-called AWB demonstrably was.

Yep, that sums up the GOP

    The Dan,

Pardon me for stating that "a lust to fail" is NOT confined to the GOP, DIMocRATS, Libertarians or any other group. = Professor Wills says that there are MANY people of all sorts who actually DESIRE to FAIL, as they like being "felt sorry for" by other people & as I said, like "wallowing in" UNHAPPINESS & SELF-PITY.

Personally, I much prefer trying until I succeed at any possible task & then being HAPPY with that state of being.
