This whole shooting is starting to reek with inconsistencies.

Now it is reported she took her handgun from her purse and pointed it toward the window before she was shot, as told by the boy in the home.

If this is the case, the claim the handgun was irrelevant by Mayor Price is completely wrong, Pointing a gun at an officer is always relevant. It may not turn it into a justified shooting, but it is relevant.

A dark figure outside your window at night shining a light in your house, IMO pointing your gun at him is natural.

The other inconsistency that just came out is how a welfare check call morphed into an Open Structure call.
As a LEO are you going to investigate a welfare call as if everything is safe and sound and nothing will happen? As txinvestigator pointed out calls like these can be dangerous for cops. The guy who requested the welfare check said the front door of the house appeared to be opened and something didn't look right. I sure as hell wouldn't walk into a situation like that casually drinking coffee.

I am just pointing out inconsistencies, and how they are selectively being transparent, trickling out parts of the story over the week...

So does that call for not announcing yourself and sneaking around the house? Or is a homeowner supposed to assume that only the police do that? IMO it's the duty of the police to announce their presence before shooting at people in their own home. Everyone has the right to defend themselves and property.

How is it relevant? This being Texas, and the U.S., you're perfectly within your rights to point your guns at people prowling around your property in the dead of night.
Had she seen him first and shot and killed him, she STILL would have been within her rights.

Because under Texas Law, when you point a gun at someone they generally have a right to kill you.

So yeah, the fact she was armed and a witness says she pointed a gun at the cop is a relevant fact in the investigation.

But if you’re in your own home, and you point a gun at a prowler outside your window...the prowler doesn’t have the right to kill you.

As I already said, it does not make it a justified shoot, but it is certainly a relevant fact.

For example a pro cop DA could easily get a no bill with this fact, as we saw in the other case

Not to belittle the kid, but eyewitness testimony is usually not a reliable or accurate recounting of the events that occurred, so I have a hard time believing what an 8 year old said happened at 2:30 in the morning is an accurate representation of what actually happened.

Let’s see a transcript of what was really said, instead of what’s been released or leaked to a media outlet.

Additionally, based on the various angles at play, the firearm may not have been visible from the outside at all.

yep, pretty what I said on ARFCOM:

That is a lot of detail for an 8yo who was playing Call of Duty at 0230
    .

IME, you can wave a pizza under an 8 yo nose while he is playing COD and he will not see it.

Agreed. And that fact is relevant.

I do recall hearing both, at the same time, early the day after (or day of, since it was very early morning IIRC) the shooting. The neighbor was reported to have made a welfare check call saying that her door was open and lights were on at 02:30 or the like, and it wasn't normal so he was concerned about her.

correct, and that is on the audio. But the dispatcher sent cops on an open structure call which is different the welfare check according to chief
