Probably not going in the books as top birthday. For the circumstances of it all, I think she had a pretty good day though. We had a really good lunch with tacos from velvet taco, I brought her presents from myself and her little girls and one of her friends. She opened those after lunch. One of the food service people made her a impromptu birthday cake, so we sang and had cake as well. Then the nurses came in later that night and decorated her room and sang Happy birthday to her. Her family and our daughters are going to visit her today and bring her more presents

Maybe not a top birthday. But . . . .

It reminds me of the scene in Phenomenon when John Travolta hasn't been taking care of himself and his friend comes over and cleans him up. The tenderness of that scene makes me cry. It's beautiful.

People taking care of you when you're really down touches the soul.

People taking care of you when you're really down touches the soul.

So far the staff have been really wonderful at the hospital. I commend them for their desire to go above and beyond to spend time with her and make sure she's as happy and comfortable as she can be. She's also been sending back requests for all her stuff so I'm just slowly bringing her in all her favorite comfy clothes and blankets and stuff, plus books and crochet stuff and other things to keep her entertained.

I've tried to spend as much time as I can there. It's hard, I am still recovering myself and have only been able to drive the past two days this week, and spent it mostly driving around taking care of kiddos. It's been a rough holiday season this year.
