    I love Bills of Sale!

It's like wrapping myself in a warm blanket of imaginary self protection with a hot cup of gun registration and a tray of denial in the cooking in the oven.

It makes me happy knowing that the .gov doesn't do enough to control us so we have to take matters into our own hands.

I can't wait until all firearms have location beacons on them. We need to make this happen so everyone can be safe. Knive and pointy sticks too.

I so look forward to the future when the technology is readily available to keep us safe from everything bad in the world. I hate having to be prepared and wish the .gov would just take care of me.

Sorry. Went off on a tangent. Sometimes the thought of less freedom just gets me all wound up.

The instructor for my carry class was informing everyone that they need a BOS when purchasing privately. It was really hard to keep from starting the conversation but I just kept my mouth shut. The class was full of people that were new to firearms and the instructor was law enforcement. I didn’t want to be “That guy”.

I understand, but I would have been that guy!

He was telling misleading information to people who knew no different. That's wrong.

I'd have lit his butt up like a cheap Christmas tree, myself - and have done so more than once. BOS records have been used to successfully prosecute sellers for being "unlicensed dealers". And as noted - are they offering proof that THEY legally own AND can sell the gun??

I've actually seen more of the younger crowd going for the BOS, often because they've heard it repeated so often by the idiots that have no clue. Funny thing is, I've seen sellers change their minds when I start to walk away with my money.

And here's the part I find troubling. Many people are under the assumption that those who are in LE automatically know the law.

And those who are new to guns, going through such a class, with a LEO teaching that class, are probably going to assume he knows what he's talking about.

And if he's using that to pass on false or misleading information, especially concerni the laws in our state, he's not only wrong, but unethical.

Someone sure needs to call him out. Make him show where a BOS is required by law in Texas, for a private sale. He can't.

I only ever asked for a BOS twice...both times I was buying. It was CA and wanted to make sure I had their info in case something was stolen.

I've passed on many guns when I see that on an ad. There have been few deals I've encountered where the firearm was priced so much under retail that I would be willing to provide a complete stranger that much personal information and especially my signature.

Everyone is welcome to set whatever conditions they choose, wear a flat billed hat sideways with your pants around your ass I'll never sell you anything, in fact I'll run you off my property. Add the letters 'BOS' to an ad and all I have for you is GLWS.

I agree. I just didn’t want to stir anything up. We were taking the class at our church and I stayed quiet. It bugged the snot out of me but I usually don’t call people out on stuff.
