    There is no best round.

Each and every round has its pros and cons.

5.56 despite its size is a highly effective round. Their are anecdotes of failure, but there are the same anecdotes for every round.

    Bullets have three jobs:
    1) make holes for blood to leak out of
    2) Destroy the CNS
    3) break bones so you get follow upshots.

No rifle or pistol bullet will always work. Put one through some thigh meat and it will hurt, but it won't stop a motivated person, doesn't matter if its a 50bmg, unless it hits something important no bullet "works"

In pistols expansion is a two-edged sword. Bigger hole, but less penetration. Pistol rounds are borderline on penetration anyway...

Bottom line is 5.56 will make holes for you bleed out of just fine. It will effectively disrupt the CNS and will break bones. It checks the boxes even out a few hundred metres.

Is it lighter than other bullets? Yes. Does that matter, not really for short range.

Is it a smaller diameter? Yes. Does diameter matter? No, not if it hits the goodies.

5.56 is cheap, light recoil and checks the boxes. More is better sure, but good enough is still good enough.

Guess I’m getting too lenient, lol.
No, you're not. But this guy started two threads (one I've moved out of public view but you know how to find it) that were designed solely to create controversy.

I don't mind even openly contentious threads. However, he hadn't earned the right to start and participate in one. He just swooped in and posted 100% troll content. I read every single post the guy made before banning him. It was 100% troll content with a dash of passive-aggressive insults.

If he had bothered to introduce himself and do a little lurking and a little talking before stirring the pot, I would have cut him some slack. But no, his sole purpose was disruption.

That's not the way TGT works. I'm sure he'll find an online home somewhere else that will suit him just fine.

No comment on the ban, but we should be careful about using Wiki as any kind of unbiased source. I find all kinds of biased left-wing nonsense there.
I didn't realize it until I read your post but the "groyper" info cited up-thread wasn't even considered as a part of the ban criteria.

This isn't BARF.com, so maybe you're the one who's lost!

To the attention whore who started this thread, perhaps a little tact is in order. Honestly, I couldn't give a rat's ass what caliber firearms other people use. It's none of my business.

Secondly, anyone who waits until there is a panic to buy ammo is an idiot and deserves to overpay for it.

Thirdly, lecturing people on what round to buy is also idiotic. It's a personal choice. I also don't own any 5.56/.223 rifles but just because I prefer a more superior caliber doesn't mean I get to talk down to those who are uninformed.

Lastly, quit giving us Kalashnikov owners a bad rap. I suspect you own a bubba'd Yugo SKS and one of those horrible Century-made "AK-patterned" POS rifles, and now somehow think your Ivan Badass!
Its fart.com. barf.com is ok too but that's not exactly what I meant.

Was talking about the fanboi trolling and comrade crap. As stated, by Ben I think, there are more appropriate places for folks like him and IMHO this ain't it.

    Anyways that's what I meant.

AKs are cool. Kinda like ugly fat chicks, just not my thing but will get the job done and can take a pounding due to loose tolerances.

So a Texan defending himself is "very close to the edge" of "stirring shit"

    Incredible.

People missed the point of this post and were looking for a fight. I made a few points that people straight glossed over because "muH FiVe FiVe sIx"
Yes, the syntax does remind one of the old HKS character.
    Anyone else?

Almost reminds me of the last guy "xxx-holliday" and his infatuation with hunting clothes.

    Or GoatFarmer!

His attitude sucked big time. He pretty much came off as arrogant, and conceited as to why people buy an AR in 5.56. The reason people buy an AR are numerous, as are the reason they buy a rifle in 5.56. And last I checked, just wanting one is as good a reason as any other here in this country according to my understanding of the 2nd Amendment. And for whatever reason people choose an AR, or the 5.56, that is entirely their business, and shouldn't be compelled to justify that reason. I'm not.

And CycleGuy hit the nail on the head with his post about the 5.56 cartridge. Excellent post BTW CG!

I think BenE made the right decision. I don't think TGT would have been the guy's forum with his attitude. I just wished I had the opportunity to suggest a couple of other gun forums where he would have fitted in much better!

Should I even ask what stormfront is?
Please don't. Seriously. Look it up for yourself but a discussion of the merits of viewpoints found therein would damage TGT.

I'm being honest here. I won't stop a discussion (unless it gets out of hand) but I hope most of you care enough about TGT to not start any discussion of Stormfront.
