I don't understand it seems like if the kids mother tells the police her son is considering suicide by cop and they interview him and they do nothing they dropped the ball again. I mean they are trying to pass red flag laws which they can come in and take your guns because someone somewhere decides you are a threat, but when someone who raised the little punk says he is considering suicide by cop, and they do nothing is incredible to me.

In all fairness, what should they have done? He hadn’t committed a crime and it’s very difficult to commit people involuntarily for more than a few days. I agree it’s a shame but we don’t give law enforcement the tools they need. And do you really want your local LEO’s having to select who gets locked up strictly as a preventive measure?

I fully suspect and believe had they kept his guns, made him a prohibited person by reason of mental defect, he probably would have resorted to other measures or means to kill people.
