Spent a lot of time in the candy store strip club in Phoenix when I was 16.

I was a pizza delivery driver and they orderd lots of pizza. I split my tips with the owner since he always sent me and I would take lunch right after. Lol havnt been back to one since. No big deal once I turned 18 and the women are usually skankey anymore.

When I lived in Austin, circa 1994-1999, a good buddy was the GM and 10% owner of 2 pretty popular, and wildly successful strip clubs there.

My dad was a cop, and one of his buddies, and our neighbor, had a brother that owned 2 50s-80s strip clubs in Houston... So between those two dudes, and my dad, I had a very good idea of how those places operated.

I spent a LOT of time in those clubs while I lived in Austin, and became pretty good acquaintances/friends with a lot of the dancers, but never, ever gave them any money, or got emotionally involved with them.

BEST times of my life, in some ways. Many benefits from hanging out regularly with 10-20 strippers and their friends. Many. Sometimes at the same time.

WORST time in my life, in others: The ONLY time I've ever had cops come to my home on official calls were during that time. Multiple times. ALWAYS because some chick got effed up and neither she, nor anyone else could calm her down. Only broken windows in any of my homes, so far, except for 2 years ago when my lawn mower threw a rock in the wrong direction... Saw way too many girls with good hearts become twisted to the point that they literally couldn't tell simple rights from wrongs. Several went on to slide into horrible addiction, dependency, and worse ends.

In the end, it was hard not to look at new dancers and extrapolate the worst outcomes. Talking with them only made it worse. And some of the absolute worst humans on the planet made a living off of being their 'boyfriend/'pimps. I know not everyone was raised Church of Christ, and I get that not everyone is going to have moral certitude, but some dudes -and womens- are simply evil.

I won't say I hope all strip clubs dry up and die, but I do think that maybe if the girls have options of Only Fans, etc, maybe a few less of them will slide into hell on earth.

the women are usually skankey anymore.
And the ones that aren't either wind up that way in short order or they get out of the business pretty quickly.

There are very few exceptions. I've been lucky to know a few and there are some really uplifting stories out there. But 99.999% of the stories are, sadly, anything but.

I miss the days, decades ago, when the Chain Mail Girls at Renfest was a side gig for strippers. 4 or 5 women, dressed in loosely constructed, very short chain-mail dresses, a bunch of jewelry, and nothing else sure made for a nice landscape to admire.

Of course, back then the dunk tank was worked by a 16-year old girl wearing a thin, white t-shirt and nothing else. And the Wolf Run actually happened every evening a few minutes after the gates closed.

The changes at Renfest reflect what the public will tolerate and things certainly have changed. Some may say for the better and some may say for the worse but mainstream America is, IMO, far more prudish than it used to be.
America as a whole is WAAAY more prudish than 15 years ago. Everyone is afraid to offend someone.

Why do so many young women have self esteem issues?
It takes very little for any child to be emotionally and psychologically crippled by the adults theoretically responsible for their care.

I'd say that for a strong plurality of strippers, their problems started with incompetent moms and were solidified by the time they spent with mom's boyfriend.

Why do so many young women have self esteem issues? Friend of mine wife worked with battered women & teens. I’m surprised she lasted as long as she did on the job, before burning out.
Although somewhat intertwined, both of those are separate issues from stripping. And could have very lengthy threads of their own.
For some, lack of self esteem is not the problem. In fact, it's just the opposite. No matter how repulsive they are in reality.

I have a great friend who had 3 daughters with 2 different women. He’s worked offshore mostly and was gone most of the time. He was screwed if he was gone to long, or if not enough! I watched the last 2 girls go from daddy’s little hunting partner, to not speaking to them.

My BIL was a career soldier. He had both a son & daughter. Son followed in his foot steps, while the daughter changed her last name.

Just as many great fathers who never bought their little princess that pony too.

It is. I think all the BYOB clubs are. They got some trashy girls there. That's why Texasgordo loves it. ;)
Had a friend that worked there occasionally. Smoking hot punk girl. She asked me to watch her dog for a couple of months while she went to Canada ( or somewhere) Ladka was the dogs name. 80lb beautiful silver female pit bull, sweetheart but not trained. At all.
After she came back I had Ladka sitting at my side. Jenna called her, but she wouldn’t leave my side. After a couple of tries, I gave her the “free” command and she took off across the yard to greet her monkey. She was amazed at how well she learned.
She was irritated that I trained her in Klingon and had to give her a cheat sheet to memorize her commands.;)

Why do you think some/most of the dudes go there but for their self-esteem issues? Guys have all the same issues, they just are presented/dealt with in different ways that tend to be viewed as culturally acceptable.

No judgement for those of you with or without any issues who do or don't enjoy a strip club, I'm painting with a BROAD brush in the above paragraph.

I'm no prude, but funnily I've only ever gone to a strip club while at work (and for work!) any little part of me that wanted to go has been cured by seeing some of the drama and what some of the dancers do when I happen to run into one on the street (opiates and meth mostly).

I read the headline in the Highlighted Posts email and raced right over. What can we as a society do to stem this dastardly tide? Let's get a war-room going people! Chop Chop!

I'd rather go to a museum than a strip joint.

    Am I a prude?

Nah, when I was a high school kid living near the Tex-Mex border I was known by my first name in a couple of ho-houses. Coulda been a guide to all of them in Neuvo Laredo.

The lowest of the bunch: The 'One Two Three Club, this place was downright scary and fun, but my favorites were the 'Diamenta Azul', but eventually I preferred 'Delias Place' for it's quiet ambiance...

I was a good customer, but after awhile I was jaded.

Such places had started to bore me.

The drunken, leering s-bags frequenting these places slowly lost it's appeal...

So, yeah, I'd rather read a book or go to a museum than these sleazy joints, yet they seem never to lose their appeal to some...

Oh, that brings back memories........been there and done that!

After college I was actually a floor manager at a strip club in Austin for a short while. I thought it would be a super cool job. I was dead wrong, It was like babysitting a bunch of kids. The girls left the dressing room a huge mess. A bunch of girls complaining about different stuff. Plus I wasn't crazy about the hours.
