Well the WET PAINT sign on the bench you are sitting on may give him pause. But that's not to say that if I'm sitting on a park bench, then a cop just walks up to me and makes me give him my gun.
I must have done something to warrant it, right.

I think we need to give this some time to see if some LEO abuse their authority. We have a retired San Antonio LEO that claims those cops will stop and ID every open carry so we may see abuse of the system. I think we may see some problems but hopefully few and far between. I also think once the fad wears off we won’t see much open carry. Just my opinion.
Why do we seldom hear news reports of armed citizens defending themselves and others? Surely it happens much more than we hear about it being reported, right?

Worrying about what the cops will do to legal carriers is a chicken little mind.

What part is bullshit? We have a retired San Antonio LEO on this forum that says any open carry LTC holders now are stopped and ID in San Antonio. No reasonable cause, just a stop and ID type stop. Completely illegal in my mind but he claims it is the routine in San Antonio right now. Is this true? I don't know.Bullshit. The same rumors ran abound when open carry came into effect in 2016, but I saw firsthand the department sent out a policy to all officers stating they must have full legal reason to disarm an individual and five years down the road it still hasn't been an issue.
There will be no "abuse of the system" despite widespread LEO efforts against Constitutional carry. I don't know who you are getting your information from, but I know a lot of active SAPD officers and none of them have made such claims. Sounds like a desperate attempt at getting attention.
I've seen a lot of OC'ing over the past five years, and expect to continue to see it. After 1 Sep, it won't matter if the individual has a LTC or is doing so under Constitutional carry as there is no way an officer can tell and I highly doubt there will be any harassment from peace officers.

The person that claims this happens claims it happens now, so I assume that those are LTC holders or people carrying illegally. I am not the one making this up, it is one of our forum members, retired LEO that makes the claim. Most of you know who I am referring to.Since it is permit-less carry, there is no ID to show.

I have never been stopped open carrying. I am not the one making the claim that San Antonio cops ID every open carry right now. When a retired LEO makes the claim I tend to believe it.Since when does a retired officer speak for a dept?
I can state I was not stopped when OCing in SA back in December. And there is no doubt they saw it. I was with a group of several OC'ers coming from a range.
Not talking about LTC, you were clearly talking in future tense about how PLC would be handled:
To each his own. I tend to not believe what some random poster on the internet says, especially if my life experience is the opposite. And then there is the basic sniff test, the logistics of stopping every OC'er would be overwhelming and would certainly be newsworthy. When a retired LEO makes the claim I tend to believe it.
I don't know how PLC will be handled. Do you? I do know that there have been plenty of stops for people carrying long guns, and plenty of videos. So, we will have to see if there is abuse by LEO or not. I hope not. We can debate this forever but I expect to see a bunch of new youtube videos in September.
How do you arrest someone carrying a long gun and not providing ID? Ever seen CJ?Nope that continues to be my point. How do you ID someone not required to present ID?

Of course it was false arrest. Those cops didn’t get the memo I guess. That’s the point. I hope that is not the scenario in September. On that we can surely agree.False arrest and charges were dropped.
