I'm looking for good reasons to own a 1911, what are they?

One 1911 is never really enough. Being kinda new here, I just now picked up on this thread. I was thinking if you pick up (borrow) a good 1911 and give it a good range workout you will have all the reasons you need to own one, or two, or three…

I have two, one with a 3" barrel (Defender) and one with a 4" barrel (Commander). And when I get around to it, I'll get the full size with the 5" barrel. Mine are stainless Colts, no frills. They both shoot great. I'm hopefully about to buy a full size 5" in the not too distant future. They are not fancy but work great. I mostly carry the Defender because it's small, easy to conceal and ............ has the laser grip which I really like.

    They are nice guns. Craftsmanship
on the nicer ones is noteworthy and the history behind the WWII guns is just cool stuff.

But if you read between the lines on many of the posts in this thread, you’ll see that there are a lot of emotions tied to that chunk of steel and some folks probably even use them like an aphrodisiac…it just gives them the woody they need when they can’t get it up on their own.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Well, they are expensive and I'm anal. If I scratch my Glock no problem, If I scratch my Dan Wessons I get depressed. I'm sure I am not the only one like that : ) I still carry them sometimes.
LOL! You are not alone. I have friends who carry their 1911’s to matches and picnics, but if they have to go to Wally Mart after dark, they are carrying a Glock or an M&P

Better than a lot of guys who find their happiness at the bottom of a bottle.
(which is another factor in impotence)

I haven't shot my 1911's in a long time. Ammo cost being the primary reason. 45's were pricey to shoot even before the pandemic.
