I didn't know the Texas Rangers had federal authority

Well, considering that the US Capitol Police have a jurisdiction that covers just about two square miles in the middle of Washington DC, and yet they're opening "branch offices" in California and Florida (to help root out any evil conservatives who so much as breathed the words 'capitol building' on January 6th), I'd say a precedent has been set for the Texas Ranges to set up a branch office in Washington DC.

So you want me to put Quik Draw McGraw on hold?
No, just not deployed to DC. Have on airport standby. I'm tired of all the whiny crap in the #fakenews and blatantly overstepping jurisdiction would not help.

    This one's extra special:
    "a hostage"...held by who?
"What do you do to a slave if you don’t do nothing but arrest them when they flee?"... Slave? You ungrateful bitch; you are a duly elected and paid representative, this used to be considered an honor!!
"We fled Texas"...From what??? You're responsibilities?!?!?!

How about do the job you were elected to do, within the State which pays you to do it??

I find it rather comical that supposedly grown adults can't distinguish between make-believe, and real life.

    Pathetic.
Unfortunately there is a dude with 3 teeth, waiving a Trump flag outside his trailer that genuinely thinks a bunch of Texas DPS officers and a few Rangers should posse up and swarm DC.

I'll do my best to chill my Uncle Jason out....

Neither of those two have any real power to back up their bluster, and those statements are part of what have me so hot under the collar with hot wheels. He’s shît stirring in the media for political gain. He says the fleetards should be fired, but there’s no mechanism to do so, not even recall. Second is jurisdiction.

The warrants that hot wheels speaks of are civil warrants issued by Phelan through the House Sergeant-at-Arms; Phelan has to deputize any Texas LEO before that LEO can serve them. And yeah, there ain’t no way the Sergeant-at-Arms’ jurisdiction extends beyond the state line.

....meanwhile, some Dems plan to stay in D.C. even longer....
And yet another state officials take care of themselves. Our resign to run article in the constitution does not apply to state officials.

Phelan and Abbott have more power than that. Dud can declare the Dem seats vacant and declare a quorum now. It's a House procedural rule, not a law. Abbott can appoint Reps to fill the vacant seats until the next election. If any of the cowardly Dems want to fight it, they have to come back to Texas....where they can be taken into custody.

....but Dud and Santa are all hat and no cattle.....

Every reference I can find deals with committee, sub-committee, Speaker Pro-Tem, or Parliamentarian. I’d be interested in the specific citation to learn more about vacating a House seat.

Same to hear the citation on appointment, since Art 3, Sec 13 of the state constitution specifically states legislative vacancies are filled by special election. Abbot has 20 days from the day the vacancy began to issue the writ of election.[/i]
