Those are bottlecaps. Also notice the headphone band over top of helmet and ear pads inside. Either a plastic lid cut or pieces put together.

Yeah, I asked him doesn't he ever get tired of that. His response is always no, when we got married they became my fun bags... lol. He's a goofball but I couldn't of asked for a better man.
