Not only is hard to think that fast its even harder to get off the on side that's going up. I've only ever been able to do it once and that's because it was a slow roll on the side of a hill. Most of the time it's ejecto seato in the direction of the roll.
That’s how my friend survived. It was a slow roll.

Still recovering from getting the decorations out of the attic and cleaning up under the reloading bench.

Wifey said this morn that we need to have a few Christmas decorations in the house (I no longer string house lights outside, nor do we have a tree)... I told her I'm not getting up that shaky ladder into the garage loft. And she's 10yrs older than I, so

I rolled a snowmobile doing about 45mph. Right behind another machine that was parked in the middle of a trail. Ejected me on the side it was rolling into, but I pushed off... my head smashing into the back of the equip sled he was towing... good thing for helmets but my neck sure hurt. Idiot jumped on top of me and told me to "stay down". Arrrrrggggghhhhh.

The realization that I am getting old(ER) came cutting firewood two years ago. I've cut and split firewood all my life. In my 20's I cut wood to sell, but now I only cut what I need to burn which is about 3 cords a year. One day I was finding myself stopping to rest and get my breath more often than usual. And then I realized I was also taking longer breaks than I used to. I cut and split two cords that weekend, and I was tired for three days. I'm not looking forward to the day when I can't do it anymore.

Age is just a number. Reality is, if we live long enough, we get old.

At some point, we all get to where we can't do the things we did when we were younger. That's just a sad truth of getting old. The thing is, do what you can, live your life to best of every day, laugh as much as you can, love those around you, and make as many memories as you can. When, or if you get old, when you can't do the things anymore that you once did years before, you will have your memories to enjoy.

What a bunch of pussy's. Retired at 72 and that was awhile back. Bad thing about getting old is that the friends you know so well ain't here anymore. One day at a time. Just make sure your will is up to date and your wife knows where the money is stashed.

When I got the senior discount at Church's in San Angelo when I was not yet 50! I paid and got my ticket. It looked wrong so I explained to the young lady that she undercharged me. She looked at the ticket and said "That is your senior..." Her face fell when she saw the look on my face. I just smiled and said thanks. My wife got a lot of laughs out of that and reminding me of it every once in a while.

From relating to my peers, I've always felt old. I've never felt I've been able to relate well. It's worse now.

For me, I started feeling older when I realized I was aging out of being eligible for careers I had wanted to pursue. And that I've also acquired enough financial obligations such that despite the fact I'd love to change careers, I don't feel I can afford at all to start over.

    Well this thread is depressing.

Did they actually tell you that was the reason?

No, the bozz told me I was laid off because he couldn't afford to keep me, due to me not being able to do the work. He said I would be able to have 1 or more year of unemployment insurance (with extensions) and then apply for disability. Uhmmmm, it didn't work out that way.

That’s for shit. I was my own boss so I could stop when I wanted. True though, aging is not the same for all.

I was my own bozz before I could no longer hack the Home Inspection work mentally (high risk/liability work requiring high mental functioning and ability to focus).

Then I went back to radio comms work at my old job at 1/10th the pay I made with my biz, but it's both bench repair and tower work. Couldn't climb towers or dig out snowmobiles anymore, was having a hard time doing full cop car installations of all elec equip, messing up licensing applications, scratching my head too long to fix radio problems. (ya know, cars and big rigs now are full of computers that transmit noise, and it's often an interference problem that can't be tracked down. Shielding or rerouting cables has a limited success. Garbage trucks were the worst. ROIP - radio over internet was a PITA that involved really lame IT depts that blame the problems on somebody else... it sucked)
