My first-hand experience with opiods is almost non-existent. Some give me a skin rash, leave me hungover (well, melatonin can do that...), or just make me feel weird. I hope to God I can do without them for the rest of my life.

In other health-related news, I just got back from the doc and I'm borderline positive (will need to re-confirm next April) for both diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. Also, cataracts have gotten started. NONE of this was evident at my last checkup, 13 months ago.

After all these years of being nearsighted but correctable, when my eyes decided to go to hell they also decided to take the express train.

Damn Ben, sorry to hear that.
Me, too, but I'm trying to look on the bright side.

Jordan Peterson has given good lectures about how the secret to becoming good at something is to not be distracted. Actually, he puts it more like "Young people are completely made up of potential. By selectively burning off, abandoning most of their potential choices, they can focus on specific things and master them instead of always being distracted. After mastery is achieved, previously unimagined potential will reveal itself."

I'm going to try to keep that in mind. So if next April confirms the problems and they look to be getting worse, I can quit thinking about precision pistol sports. I can sell off all my bullseye, silhouette, PPC, etc. guns and concentrate on the "hitting big targets up close really fast" shooting sports.

Unless I lose all sight, I'll find a way to make lemonade out of this particular bushel of lemons. We'll see what the future holds.

I can't tolerate regular opiates any more. The first hour of so, they make me violently sick at my stomach. Afterwards, I am just about worthless except for holding down the recliner.

About the worst side-effect with the Tramadol is it can make me very sleepy. That's why I try and take one right about bedtime.

Awesome! My daughter is the most interesting of our kids - she'll push you, and you'll love her for it.
