One of several guns I purchased in December finally arriving.
This one is a Winchester 62A. I’ve been admiring them forever and finally got myself one:

    Hey TGT,

This 5-7/8" Model 586 No Dash with a Square Butt followed me home on Monday. (Blame LGS, he calls from time to time, says, "Stop on by, something come in." then hangs up. I know where to look....bottom shelf, used revolver case....off to the side....He done got me all TRAINED!)LOL

It joins my 8-3/8" M 586 and youngest sons 7" Seven Shooter!

It has a few freckles...think it will be a solid performer!

    Later, Mark

Since the shop/range is closed for the new owners to do inventory ect.......We went to the gun show at the Fulton Civic Center......first gun show in Rockport-Fulton in many years......

I found this Colt M1917 U.S. marked, made in 1919 in .45 ACP.........grips are replacements and the lanyard swivel is missing. Other than that, all correct and in very good condition including bore......it followed me home......

Took a rainy drive down to Marshal, TX for the G&S Gun Show at the convention center down there. Small show, supposedly 200 tables but I had to wonder if there were that many. Did not see anything that caught my eye except a raffle ticket for $20. If you win you get to take your pick out of about nine to a dozen long guns. I've won twice from the same raffle, once in Texarkana, AR and once in Conway, AR. Guy sells so many tickets then holds a raffle. He can hold one or a few raffles at the same show depending on ticket sales; the proceeds go toward some organization, forget the name, that benefits kids in need. If I win, I'll have to drive back tomorrow.

I was surprised to see some of the prices on ammo. I'll just mention one - Remington 30-06 Core-Lokt at $68 per box of 20! At least one other guy at the show had the same stuff for $45 per box. And there I was thinking ammo prices had gone down some, either one of those was too expensive for me.

I tried to sell a few guns, no luck there either.

Nicer drive home, it was not coming down in buckets on the way home l;ike it was on the drive down there.

Most recent pick up was this little guy, Savage 1907 in .32ACP:

These are very cool little .32 pistols that are notable as one of the first users of a double stack, detachable magazine. This sucker holds 10 rounds which is a lot for the day, and was advertised with the slogan "Ten shots quick!"

1907s were actually used by two militaries as both France and Portugal placed orders for several thousand in the First World War. So I just had to pick up one of these for my WWI collection. French contract pistols can be determined by the addition of a hole in the bottom of the frame and a lanyard loop. Portuguese contract pistols are very hard to find and will have different grips with the Portuguese crest, although many of these grips have been swapped or lost. A much more detailed write up can be found here.

This example dates to 1914 and is just a few thousand short of the French contract, so while it is not a military pistol, there is still a chance it was purchased on the commercial market and made it's way over there.

Either way these are beautiful pieces, kinda art-deco in a way and with that nice patina and the remnants of the gorgeous blung it will look great on the wall. But don't worry it will make an excellent shooter too! These have a kind of odd 'lock' mechanism that isn't, more of a delayed blowback, so they have very little recoil even compared to other .32s; it shoots great.
