    Jury summons received for next week, Tuesday.

    Part of me wants to do my civic duty on a jury.

    Another part of me fears the unspeakable horror of being on a jury for two weeks to render a judgement on a prick vs. a bitch physicians divorcing one another. A friend lived, miserably, through such an experience.

    I need advice.
    How do I get the attorney's to say "No freaking way" to having me on a jury???

    I considered an AR-15 t-shirt and tin foil hat but, these days, that would get me an unwelcome home visit from a governmental agency.
    :)

    On the questions form, just say you disagree with the law. But don't say how. "IANAL" ! (obviously)

    Must be a civil case. Be a man and do what is right. You get to be on a jury to decide justice, by honest peers doing the same. Not like other countries. Or you could ex-patriate yourself and MOVE someplace else.

    I’ve been called every year for several years. I always make sure to wear a nice blazer with a Punisher t shirt underneath. Never been picked.

    The only time I was not picked, I had my golf clubs in the car and the weather was perfect.

    Here you go.

    "QUALIFICATIONS FOR JURY SERVICE
    (Texas Government Code, Section 62.102)
    To be qualified to serve as a juror you must:
    1. be at least 18 years of age;
    2. be a citizen of the United States;
    3. be a resident of this state and a resident of the county in which you are to serve as a juror;
    4. be qualified under the Constitution and laws to vote in the county in which you are to serve as a juror (Note: You do not have to be registered
    to vote to be qualified to vote.);
    5. be of sound mind and good moral character;
    6. be able to read and write;
    7. not have served as a juror for six days during the preceding three months in the county court or during the preceding six months in the district
    court; and
    8. not have been convicted of, or be under indictment or other legal accusation for, misdemeanor theft or a felony"

    Reads like saying you aren't of good moral character will get you off. Talk about jury nullification, that usually makes you disappear too.

    What illegals can't serve? They can practically do anything else.

    I've been called several times but never selected for one reason or another.
    If you can at all afford to do it, I think you should do it.
    If you just can't serve. A BLM T-shirt, a MAGA cap, and show up smelling of alcohol.

    I remember a few years ago they picked those that were to actually serve on the jury by what statement you most agree with.
    I can't remember what the other 3 statements were, but I picked "Let the punishment fit the crime", I guess that wasn't what would get me on that jury.

    I remember once years ago I got a jury summons and so did a friend of mine who was with the local police department. When he was asked why he should be excused, his answer, "I don;'t think as a serving LE officer that I can be an objective juror in this case." Judge said he was excused.

    Been called 4 times, only 1 time did I make to the selection pool. It was a DUI case, I was asked if I had an opinion on the defendant already. I replied "before I know all the facts, I would have to decide against the defendant since I tend to believe the majority of police officers are honest and must have had a very good reason to pull the defendant over. If the officer believed the defendant was drunk, that's what I would believe as well". The defendants attorney thanked me for my honesty and thanked me for my service in the jury, but my services there were no longer needed.

    I used to get off in the past when they found out my dad was a homicide detective. Not so much any longer.
    Last time I was called I saw an interesting "out" some woman took. Not sure if she was sincere or gaming the system.
    Out in the hall she was staying by herself reading her bible. During the questioning of the potential jurors the question came up as this was the rape of a child, if we had a problem putting someone away for a very long time. potentially life?
    When she was asked the question she said that her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ would tell her what to do.
    The lawyer asked her if she even needed to hear the evidence if she was going by what Christ was going to tell her.
    Her answer was you can make fun of my relationship with Jesus if you want.
    DISSMISSED.

    I get called up about every 3 years like clockwork in Tarrant county… never have even been to the point they gave me the questionaire that the lawyers choose jurors from ,but have been stuck there all
    Day each time. Do you wish to donate your juror fee? Hell No! You wasted my day.
