I've been looking for a Colt MKIV Series 70 1911 that I could afford with no luck. I stumbled on this Combat Target Model Series 80 at a decent price today and I grabbed it. Supposed to be the poor man's Gold Cup (don't know about that). Haven't shot it yet so who knows.

Nice! I’m pretty sure that’ll shoot OK.

I’ve been hoping one would come up for sale (that or a Wiley Clap) when I have some extra $$ to blow, but with my daughters wedding that I’m paying for, there’s no such thing as extra $$!

Hypothetically speaking, imagine that an HK VP9SK followed me home yesterday and I did nothing to shake it off of my tail. Nice looker and while I have a clue as to why HK decided to mess with what is essentially the perfect placement of a pistol's mag release in the usual spot, I do not like its position on this pistol. They placed theirs at the bottom rear of the trigger guard and use a lever instead of a push button. While it is ambidextrous, I think it is not the best or even close to the best mag release I have ever used and it likely would take considerable getting used to if one was going to use it as a carry gun. While I am doubtful I would carry it (that mag release is enough to pretty much assure I would not carry it), I am guessing I could still have fun with the pistol at the range. That of course, only if this was not a hypothetical! Biden :evil:and the AFT (as he reportedly called the ATF recently - source) and their plans to screw us and destroy our RKBA have made me somewhat concerned about revealing any further real life acquisitions.

Makes it tempting to get one. When they were just shy of $3k I wasn’t even considering one
Indeed - MKE is fully licensed by HK, so they are legit. The fit and finish look pretty good, and the trigger is smooth as butter.

Is SP5 better? Is it $2500 better? Not to me.. For another 1000 I will get good collapsable stock, a fixed, and mags -

VP9 is a good one to follow you home, I like the paddle mag release

Well after Sig Nitron finished my blued W.German P220, I felt like that was the same as having a 300SL and then painting it flat black. So never been happy with it. Walked into a pawn shop today and saw this P220 with the same date code and in excellent condition. Couldnt leave it there.

Picked up a new Glock 19 (third generation) that still has that coppery lube on the slide & rails. It is my third current Glock 19. Also picked up a Mossberg 395T 12 gauge bolt action shotgun. Got them yesterday, at my local dealer. Had the high bids on them at a Hessney.com auction a few weeks ago, had them delay shipment until my vacation was over.

The Glock was just as described - unfired in the box (meaning new) and has the accessories and papers in the box:

The shotgun is my first very disappointing gun from Hessney, when bidding online. I have bid exclusively online, in their auctions, since I left NY in June 2019 and in a few others before that online while in NY; although, for most of their auctions that I bid on while in NY, I did so at the auction house. I have participated in many of their auctions since I first started in April 2012, that was about a month and a few weeks after I found out my cancer had been completely cured (the doc told me the best word a cancer patient can hear - RESOLVED) back in March 2012. I never had been at a live in person firearms auction before that but all it took was that one - I was immediately addicted! I spent almost $1,400.00 and picked up 5 guns (including a new Browning Citori Lightning 12 gauge at a great price), a Whitetail Mount and a dagger.

As for this shotgun, when I asked about condition, I was told "95% - very good"; yet, the barrel is quite rusted in places and even has pitting near the muzzle atop the barrel. I've not yet looked down the bore (don't need to get any more upset at the moment). The barrel looks a lot nicer in the pic than when up close in my hands.

When I am in a very diplomatic mood, I will let the auction house owner know about that rust. I won't ask for any compensation (although he may offer it and if he does I will accept it as credit toward my next bids) but jI will just ask that whoever looks over the guns - the next time I ask them to look some over - does it more carefully. Whatever, it is not a great loss but still is a disappointment. Regardless, I am looking forward to bidding in their next Sportsman Auction next weekend.
