My father switched over to using a K-cup type coffee maker a few years ago.
I don't like the fact that I use a Keurig, but I love the convenience more than the taste.

That said, when I had CTRS hand surgery a few months back, while in postop waiting to be discharged, the sweet young thing looking after me brought me the best cup of coffee I've tasted in years, still thinking about it!

Asked her did she make it, and what it was. Yes she said, and it was Folgers.

Damn, not that long ago I wouldn't have considered that coffee ... that's what Keurig will do to you.

My father switched to one because he wasn't drinking as much coffee and he said making an entire pot of coffee, that most got poured out at the end of the day. He likes that he can have a cup of coffee whenever he wants one, without having to make a whole pot.

What's a good brand? What do y'all drink? I used to like Peets but I'll avoid giving money to California.

I’m from Louisiana. I mostly drink Community Coffee from Baton Rouge. I also like “Eight O’Clock” and pick some up on occasion.

It has to be strong. I don’t want people to confuse my coffee with tea.

I like a dark roast. I'm not a huge fan of columbian blends. Gets me really wired. I thought Aldi had a Texas brand...

I run a mixture of vinegar and water through mine once a month to clean it.

I also use my coffee maker to brew tea as well.
During 3rd shift at a chemical plant years ago, I was bored so decided to clean the coffee maker. It looked new when I was finished. That morning when the Instrument shop supervisor (a retired Navy Chief) poured his first cup, he tasted it and threw the cup across the room. After being cursed for several minutes I was told to never clean the coffee maker again.

Never clean the pot or cup of a Navy Chief. I learned that the hard way back in the 80's.
