No, not any “theory”. If one puts an animal or person into a cage, as in prisons, their weight gains can be regulated by diet manipulation.

But in most of our “real life” situations, other factors become important.
If you care to begin to understand this topic then watch this interview..you can begin at the 18:00 mark if you want .
This man is Robert Lustig..one of the foremost experts in obesity in the world.
He is/was the leading pediatric endocrinologist in the country

He understands the cause of obesity.
CICO is a sort of OK way to measure calorie load and expenditure..however when there is ANY metabolic disorder present..CICO takes a backseat to the disorder

Again..I say...100 calories of highly processed food is NOT the equal to 100 calories of whole unprocessed food.

Argue if you wish..it won't change anything

Weight change is determined by the difference between caloric intake, and caloric expenditure.
Weight gain and loss is determined by many things.

For each gram of glycogen stored your body holds onto 3 grams of water.

A significant drop in glycogen contributes to a even more significant loss in water weight. Which effects the scale drastically. This is why people who start strict Ketogenic diets seem to lose lots of weight fast..its mostly water.

Fat storage/loss is determined by your insulin levels. After the liver is saturated with glycogen , insulin levels promote the storage of fat into adipose tissue.

Lower your insulin levels and you'll burn fat.

Sugar...Truth was my introduction to him and my favorite. I’ve watched it several times.

I’ve seen every one on YouTube.

    Metabolical, a great title.

Dude. You’re over complicating a simple thing. If you’re in a caloric deficit, you will lose weight. If you’re in a surplus, you’ll gain weight. There is no way around that. People are not fat because they eat the wrong calories. They are fat because they sit on their ass and eat more than they burn. You can lose weight eating anything if you’re in a deficit.

    I wish.
Every morning I eat breakfast at 9.

6 scrambled eggs, 4 - whites only, 2 whole. Along with this I eat 2 Turkey sausage patties.

    I'm hungry again by 10:30.
Just curious..why 4 whites only and 2 whole?
Your missing out on good nutritional benefits of the yokes and good fat calories also.

OK, not significantly different, but he looks to be selling his book.

FYI, LSU Pennington is the recognized world’s authority on these topics. Even U T admits that they get their info from Pennington Center researchers.

We have had too many unfounded “theories” and booksellers in this area.

One continuing problem is that chemists know that we have numerous “sugars” in regular diets, and all cannot be avoided; that is not even desirable. What should be done is to understand labeling vs) content listings and avoid high-sugar items.

For instance, food industry lobbyists have “gamed” the FDA to the point that, for some labeling purposes, the item can legally be labeled “Sugar Free” based solely on SUCROSE content, and ignoring some 20 other sugars contained within. All of those sugars, including sucrose, promptly turn into GLUCOSE once consumed.

Lastly, comparing an Endocrinologist selling a consumer book to LSU Pennington & U T Med Dallas official publications just demonstrates lack of understanding. Both institutions have numerous “experts’ like your bookseller guy.

I eat this every day, 365 days a year.
Figured it would be too much cholesterol.
    Thats another discussion altogether.

I will use whites only on occasion in a protein shake. But if you look at egg whites alone versus the whole egg.
The whites are considerably higher on the glycemic index. Most lean proteins are. Thats why we want to pair it with some fats..

The eggs/cholesterol..good/bad argument can go on and on.
We had a thread in that awhile back.

“CHOLESTEROL” is the material which insulates nerve fibers so that we don’t “short-out”.

Focal deficiencies of neural sheath lipids caused by scarring from Multiple Sclerosis, trauma, or viral infections cause major problems.

IMO, too many Internists and especially “Cardiologists” have inadequate & faulty understandings of lipid metabolism.

To wit: Just see how dietary advice from them differs from REAL experts, and how things change with growing knowledge.

Can you tell me the GI of whites vs whole egg?

Right along with an "allowable amount" of BENZENE in Cola packaged in PLASTIC containers...

Geewilikers! I can not understand why my kids have leukemia, Batman... :50cal:

(for those that do not know, the CORRECT amount of BENZENE for human beings to INGEST...........is ZERO!) Amazing what a few bribes in the halls of Congress can do..

Right up their with FLUORIDE! (there is no element, with the exception of PLUTONIUM, that is DEADLIER to all life forms on this planet, than FLUORINE!) which is put in our water & toothpaste....

Yes, lobbyists have neutered our protective food regulations.
