My great uncle Gaspar Milazzo, was the boss of the Castellamarese mafia family in Detroit (which later became the Bonanno crime family in New York). He was murdered in 1931 by Joe Masseria’s group out of New York. Milazzo's murder started the bloody Castellammarese War in New York City between Joe "The Boss" Masseria and Milazzo's associate, Salvatore Maranzano. The result of this “war” was the creation of the five New York families (Gambino, Genovese, Columbo, Bonnano, and Lucchese).

That's pretty freaking cool. Early to mid 20th century mafia stuff is interesting as hell. I've spent many a lunch hour going down a rabbit hole on wiki.

I have always been interested in my families history. Also, my grandfather was a Capo with the Saviani family in Cincinnati Back in the 50’s.

My dad wasn't a mafiosi but he new all of them inKansas City. In October 1971, fresh out of the Army and back from Viet Nam, my dad and I were in his office signing some Insurance papers. We were gone from the car about 15 or 20 minutes. We went back to the car and it had been stolen. I looked at dad expecting cussing but he just smiled and said back to the office. He makes one phone call, describes the car, green. T-Bird, license such and such. Says okay and hangs up. I asked what now. He said we wait for an hour or so. Impatient, We go back to the garage 45 minutes later and there his car was. Freshly washed, waxed and with a full tank of gas. On the dash was an envelope with a gift certificate for two to the Plaza Three restaurant. The next evening, dad, mom and I go to the P3 for dinner. Since I didn't have any civie sport coat or suit I wore dress greens. They comped all three of our dinners. It was the best prime rib i ever had possibly because it was the first I had in 4 years.

It took about $27,000 in shrimp to film the scenes in Forrest Gump according to these invoices from the company that provided them to the film company.

Moles like the aquatic mole we have here in Texas, have an extra "finger" that is actually a modified carpel. It is sickle shaped and is outside of the thumb (if they had thumbs). It helps them to dig and move more efficiently through the soil. It is called the os falciform for its sickle shape.

The supermarkets’ “Keystone Light”n beer is exactly the same beer as Coors Light

As Eddie Cano, who owned several beer distributorships in the RGV once told me: “The ONLY differences are color of cans and lower $4.95/case price.”

Eddie had been guest of Peter Coors and had seen both comng out of the same machines at the same time.

In fact, when Keystone first came onto the Texas market, it was in a slightly more expensive ceramic micro-lined can.

    Now you know, too. . . .

I’ve never seen a “car”; but plenty light bulbs, vibrators, coke bottles, batteries, and even a GERBIL.

JAMA once ran a scientific article on how to remove light bulbs from rectums.

Even wierder was a state legislator who stuffed little wads of paper up his penis, into his bladder, where they formed stones.
