I was wondering if anyone has a feral hog problem in Bosque, and Coryell county. I would love to help thin them out and put meat in my freezer. And donate Meat to local food drives please let me know either in PM or just reply thanks all.

It's very frustrating to hear the complaining about hogs but no opportunities to help out plus put some meat in the freezer..........without paying.
The $2 per pound hunts are the ones that make no sense to me lol

Yep, been looking for years for a farmer with a hog problem that would let me come shoot them for him. It seems the idea of a symbiotic (mutual benefit) relationship is lost on Texas farmers. I'm told that, up North, you can usually walk up to a farmer's door and ask for permission to hunt DEER and he'll usually say something like, "Sure, please kill those dang crop destroying critters!" In Texas, you ask for permission and the farmer will likely say, "Sure, I charge $500 for does, $1500 for cull bucks and anything over 120" of antler will cost you the $1500 plus $100/inch."

Yes, atleast in Minnesota, but there is something you should be aware of there. If a farmer opens his land up to other hunters, then he can apply for more deer tags. I am not positive, but if he applies for more tags that way, then he must allow anyone to hunt there. They don't necessarily want to get rid of the deer, they want to be able to take more for themselves. I am sure there is more to it, but that is the gist of it.

If everyone would just quit paying to hog hunt, then the farmers would be begging you to come shoot them. I can't blame them for charging, but some of the prices are out of line.

Feral hogs are a reanchers dream. They got one hand out to the feds for help to iradicate them and the other hand out to hunters charging extortion rates for a pest.

Have to agree. A few years ago we had an article in the local paper and all of these farmers/ranchers were just whining and complaining about the wild hogs tearing up there place, etc. I contacted alot of them and they replied "well I don't like people shooting on my place" or " so and so said thet'd pay me" etc. It must not be that big of a problem for them.

Back in Feb or March here in Coryell they paid hired guns for three days of helicoptor hunting of the hogs here. I think 300 were taken. I only have 10 acres here and hogs have been in the yard on a rare occasion. The former tenant here before I bought the place had lots of hogs, a holding and a feeding pen to fatten them up. Supposedly up to 40 at a time. I hear them, it's late at night when they come but so far only little damage. They follow the creek lines then head to the oaks and acorons. I will shoot them if I catch them here.

Yep it would be nice if those with the ranches would open them up a little for getting rid of them but then again there are only a few people I can think of that I do trust shooting. When you see mailboxes shot up, trash, signs shot up and you are grazing cattle I can understand being hesitant.

I am A FFL holder in process of opening a Gun Shop in Mosheim, and A NRA Certified Pistol and Home Firearm Safety Instructor. I'm Currently waiting to go through a CHL Instructor course for State. If you have them on your place and allow me to hunt them for food I would greatly apreaciate it. But I do understand your concern But It would be just me hunting. I have a good rifle with scope and I am getting a nightvision set up to hunt at night. thanks for your response..

I find it very funny the prices they charge for some of these hunts...

I have never been hog hunting and would be interested but am not paying 300+ for a trip. I have seen a few dove hunting though.

Thanks for asking. They don't come up here often and I guess I will take them out eventually. Actually been trying to lure them into the holding pen here to fatten them up. I am on a bit higher ground and I see moe hogs near the creeks that run through here. I am new to the area only being hear a year. I hope eventually to get some permission to hunt a few places here near me where the rivers run through. I can hunt on my lil bit here but I also have to be carefull because don'e want a bullet to hit a neighbors. I do hope those axis deer come back through again. Thank goodness for escapees from the game farms. I appreciate you asking though.

I had a rancher contact me about removing coyotes and hogs. We talked and he wanted to charge. I forgot about it, just not going to pay. I have free places to hunt. Got a call from him about a big cat problem gave him a price and he changed his tune. No more cats now I have another place to hunt for free.
