8 months ago I was looking for hotels in F-burg during the eclipse and there were no rooms available.I wouldnt say most of it, but a pretty wide band.
I will be traveling about 60 miles to be in the path of totality.
I was trying to arrange for some of the photographers that work for me to meet at a hotel that I use when I take weekend motorcycle trips. My travel agent (wife) tried to make reservations but there were none to be had, then a week or two ago, one of them sent us an email offereing "Eclipse week" reservations at $438 a night!
That shit should be illegal.
So the wife and I will just get up that morning and drive out that way, find a spot and enjoy the show, assuming that we have clear skies.
I bet. Or friends in Baton Rouge decided to visit that weekend so we're just hanging out here.@innominate ,
Waco shamelessly gouges hotel prices for Baylor homecoming, so I can imagine what they'll do on this. Rooms should be available.
Thats where I looked too8 months ago I was looking for hotels in F-burg during the eclipse and there were no rooms available.
I think a couple hotels held off and are taking now. But I heard $400-$600 per night with 3 night minimumThats where I looked too
Maybe they just wanted to come up with a reason beside “it’s an eclipse”.Just got word that my school is closing that day due to "increased traffic and emergency services delays".....like anyone intentionally comes to Mexia for anything, much less an eclipse....
C’mon, it’s not that often you find yourself in the path of a total eclipse, and it’s pretty damn cool.I guess they are expecting some kind of life altering event. Ft Hood and Killeen ISD are closing for the day as well.

Spent this past weekend in Marble Falls. The county finally declared a holiday for the eclipse. Schools closed, etc. The path of totality includes FTW, although only briefly. I think I'll save my money and just walk outside. Should be cool to witness.News just said Marble Falls will be the best place to be, they are expecting a crowd. Motel rooms going for $1,000.00 per night, Not me.
