I wouldnt say most of it, but a pretty wide band.
I will be traveling about 60 miles to be in the path of totality.
I was trying to arrange for some of the photographers that work for me to meet at a hotel that I use when I take weekend motorcycle trips. My travel agent (wife) tried to make reservations but there were none to be had, then a week or two ago, one of them sent us an email offereing "Eclipse week" reservations at $438 a night!
    That shit should be illegal.

So the wife and I will just get up that morning and drive out that way, find a spot and enjoy the show, assuming that we have clear skies.
8 months ago I was looking for hotels in F-burg during the eclipse and there were no rooms available.

Got my filter in the mail today and tested it. Not bad for a budget 100-300mm Canon EF lens, can see the sun spots though. And the filter doesn’t alter the color much which is nice.

Just got word that my school is closing that day due to "increased traffic and emergency services delays".....like anyone intentionally comes to Mexia for anything, much less an eclipse....
Maybe they just wanted to come up with a reason beside “it’s an eclipse”.

The three “local” schools around me are out on the 8th.

I guess they are expecting some kind of life altering event. Ft Hood and Killeen ISD are closing for the day as well.

C’mon, it’s not that often you find yourself in the path of a total eclipse, and it’s pretty damn cool.

If my kids weren’t out I was going to keep them home to watch it anyways. Won’t hurt them to miss a day of brainwashing.

News just said Marble Falls will be the best place to be, they are expecting a crowd. Motel rooms going for $1,000.00 per night, Not me.
Spent this past weekend in Marble Falls. The county finally declared a holiday for the eclipse. Schools closed, etc. The path of totality includes FTW, although only briefly. I think I'll save my money and just walk outside. Should be cool to witness.

I made a filter for my Nikkon. Bought some solar film off amazon. I then cut it to fit over the lense. Covered it with a $5 uv filter to hold it in place. Have just over $20 in it and enough film left over for several more.
