Yes they are, and undoubtedly they have sleeper cells in this country along with plenty of Taliban, IS, and Russians.Hamas supporters are the entire camel into the tent of civilized discourse.
Yelling, chanting, and megaphone are peaceful unless you're a pansy. From what I understand they were violating UT Austins Campus rules. They were not peacefully protesting. The few videos I watched were very shows marches with megaphones and lots of yelling, screaming and chanting. UT Austin said they have a long standing repuatation of supporting students rights to protest but not at the expense to where it disrupts learning and everything else. Even if no one was being violent or using violent language towards people there, all that yelling and screaming over a megaphone would certainly disrupt the campus and learning all by itself. Especially when a lot of teachers were cancelling their classes in support of it. Idk. I think some people abuse right to free speech.
If they are shouting support for support of Hamas and are occupying a part of the UT Austin property in the name of Hamas isn't that the same as supporting a terrorist organization? Or even in the name of Palestine, and under the flag of Palestine isn't that considered a no-go on sovereign US soil?
Free speech is fine if staged within the rules and regulations of the institution. Disruption of classes for as little as noise can be grounds for removal. If you don't leave when requested, then arrest for trespassing can be enforced. Since UT is a public research institute it is within the state's control. The reaction of the administration & governor was an unfortunate overreach.
The campus is a free speech venue as defined by State law, and apparently the pro-Palestinian protesters didn’t violate it.
Last I heard we do have a 1st Amendment.
This wasn’t anything like what was going on at Columbia U. in NYC.
I didn’t mean peaceful as in the opposite of violent I meant non peaceful in a way that would disrupt other student's or interrupt their learning which would be breaking the rules of UT Austin.Yelling, chanting, and megaphone are peaceful unless you're a pansy.
