I had the same thing happen to me at Nagels in San Antonio. The counter clerk was speaking with a customer about their carry weapons. Customer pulls his carry piece from his IWB holster, hands it straight to the clerk without clearing or checking it, who begins examining it with the muzzle pointed straight at me. I left immediately, but in retrospect, I wish I would have crawled up his ass and lived there until he understood how dangerous his actions were.

Is it poor taste to ask what this kids name is? or his description at least?

I see nothing wrong with the way you reacted, cant say I would have been as "nice" as you were to the kid.

Great thread, never hurts to be constantly reminded of safety first.

I too, would have said something, but I would not have threatened him.
And I know you wil all delight in chastising me, but I don't care.

My thoughts as well. When you informed him you have a concealed weapon and plan to use it, I'd say under the circumstances you are violating the laws applicable to CC. Poor gun handling is not an intentional threat any more than poor driving warrants drawing down on someone.

Let me tell all of you that nothing is more important to us than your saftey and ours at the counter there. There is absolutly NO excuse for that morons actions but please know that is not something you will ever have to deal with when visiting us. I broke my foot off in his ass that night and the managers are well aware of the situation. I doubt he will be with us long. I am happy to personally deal with any TGT members that walk through that door so it is not a luck of the draw guy waiting on you. Members who have dealt with me as well as Texas1911 and Sig_fiend can assure you I put saftey first and know what I'm talking about. During the holidays Cabelas has been forced to do some rampid hiring for seasonal guys and unfortunatly this dick weasel has snuck through the cracks. Feel free to ask for me personally when you come in, and I will make sure you have a safe expieriance.

tap&rack_TXinfidelSince you work there can you shed any light on the guy that pulled this stunt? Has he straightened his act up? Does you management team address incidents like this seriously?

    Helotes!
Keep your eyes open at a gun show and see how many times you get muzzle swept. Took the MUCH better half to one a couple weeks ago to find a rifle for her. Had her point them all down toward the ground and made sure ALL of them were unloaded. Also kept the finger off the bang switch. Not everyone does that though. And an ND at a gun show isn't that uncommon either.

I always do keep my eyes open and my SA up, which is what scares me as I always see people muzzle sweeping the crowd.

There was an ND at the SAXET show here a while back, and that scared me as well. I am not normally the nervous type, but I get that way around a lot of people I don't know handling firearms!

I am a huge advocate of the 30.06 enforcement at gun shows, it offers a little bit of assurance that people aren't handling loaded weapons; but it still doesn't preempt everyone from treating them as if they were loaded, as it should be (Rule #1)...

    Cheers! M2

I went easy on this kid, I restrained alot. Travis has seen me lose it before.

Smart move. Just GOING OFF on idiots really does no good... although it can be quite satisfying.

Hopefully our interest in firearms makes the members here NOT act like that idiot. You can not be too safe.

I've only been covered like that a handful of times on accident, but its enough to turn me off from anything that combines the general public and guns. I'm a pretty mellow guy, but pointing a gun at me pisses me off in a hurry. I can see why you were upset.

More important than the disciplinary actions, I hope the guy takes it to heart and becomes more conscious about safety. Hopefully after the embarrassment wore off he went "man, I'm an idiot" rather than "loud mouth jackass." Maybe something good will come out of it.

I think todays media and games (I am looking at you, Call of Duty) give people the impression that guns are just toys, the true danger of them has been disconnected from our minds.

I'm not even going to start on this...All I can say is WOW!

Texas1911, you did the right thing and were more self contained than I would have been. What did the other customers do/say after this?

Good call. That goes for your reaction, the mandatory read also.
How true that we get muzzle swept repeatedly with and without noticing.
The sharp rise in gun ownership and interest has brought out a plethora of new gun owners, along with the renewed attention of the "anti's".
It is our duty to call out anyone handling guns in any manner that is unsafe and can cause bodily harm, or harm to our cause.

Ignorance is not an excuse. I wasn't comfortable around a gun until I shot with mine at least 4 times at the range (just recently purchased my first gun).

My friend was a bit careless with a gun and shot herself in the leg once when she was younger. That story and scar definitely helped me remember to take guns seriously as they were designed as tools to kill.

Hope he learned a lesson and also hope he never repeats that again.
