Wait, I just realized something. Maybe the gangs are preying on people with new tires. They know us poor asses only buy used tires, and therefore don't have any money to take.

Since the introduction of personal computers and internet access to public schools, our drug dealers, thieves, and neerdowells have had access since the sixth grade in ways to target unwitting victims.

Crooks monitor these boards, take note of public gatherings, blend in at those gatherings, cross-reference high-value gun owners by vehicle & tag number, then follow those targets to after-shoot gatherings where the firearms remain in vehicles vulnerable to theft. They work in groups and coordinate their efforts through mobile phones.

The really smart 8th grade crooks know how to gather board member's personal information about the vehicle you drive, the guns you own, the places you go to shoot, how you secure your guns, the kind of work you do, and much more.

This is a great place to swap stories and lend advice; A terrible place to tell folks what you do or what you drive or what guns you own.

    Be well.

It's funny. When I read the OP, I kept looking and looking for the "tag" on the wheel or tire. I kept ignoring the spot because I'm a mechanic and recognize it as normal.

I too think this is totaly bogus, but just for grins I'm going to run this by some of the gangbangers, on Tuesday, at the high school where I am a teacher. I'll ask a couple of the kids I trust and if I find out anything interesting, I'll report back here.

Over the years, folks have posted incidents where their firearms were stolen after a public get-together, meetings that were posted on forums such as this one. Most happened at restaurants where they met after a shoot.

Check the archives on this board, and I'm sure you will find examples of a stolen Kimber or Glock, and even a Ford Heavy Duty with guns inside, just within the last two years. IIRC, all those events (and the stolen vehicle) were prominently displayed in posts prior to the event and subsequent theft.

I may be dumb, but I ain't that dumb!

The enemy always gets a vote.

    Be well.

TRN is the mastermind behind this underworld of tire marking.

    Dangh - busted....but, wait - ah've got an alibi!!!

TxDad ripped his TuTu during his last li'l trip through the DT parks, and ah needed the $$$ for a new one. They ain't usually that expensive, but he's put on weight, an' Omar Tents wanted a deposit before they started!

I'll have to remember not to let my son take his skate board when we go to the gun store next time.
Don't want to have it tagged by some gang member!

I was told there was thing going on here awhile back where robbers would spray paint on people's fences in the alley to mark what houses they were gonna break into. We've had a blue spot on our back fence for years. LOL.

It's definitely BS, although that would be an ingenious way to do it discreetly. ;)

I think people should be a bit more concerned about all the gang members that are apparently in most of the branches of our military, that have been deployed during war time, that have been receiving training, that have been in combat and have likely had their fair share of stress inoculation because of it. Some of them are already back here, and if not yet, probably will be back soon with the war in Iraq "concluded". It may no longer be the clueless crackhead with a Lorcin accosting you, but rather a military vet that has seen combat, may be heavily armed, and may even have body armor. This is a bit outside of my lane to be commenting on since I'm not LE, but I have heard these things from a number of LEO's I know, and it makes sense. Something to consider, when making choices on what and how you carry, your mindset, and your training.

    It happens.
It is no slam on any military members here but the military has loosened up the requirements to get in, granting waivers for those with some pretty hefty criminal backgrounds. I am sure some get straightened out in there but others are just going to continue to be criminals when they get out, albeit better trained criminals.
