    Howdy all,

I've been wanting to attend some of the shows here in Austin area, but it seems that there's only one or two?
How many tables are typically at the Saxet show? Is there much variety or is it more the same folks each time? oh and I see that the sticky posts are pretty old -Is that information accuarate?

    Thanks
    Bil

    Welcome, Bill!

If you don't mind the drive, there are some much better shows in San Antonio! The next really good one is on March 24th & 25th.
That's these guys: San Antonio Gun Show

If you're dead set on staying in Austin, there's actually another SAXET coming up on the 28th and 29th of this month.
SAXET info here: SAXET GUN SHOWS SCHEDULED EVENTS AND LOCATIONS That page shows their Austin AND San Antonio schedules.

Hope to see you out there, and look forward to seeing you on the boards as well.

Anyone know if there are any vendors that make it to the Austin SAXET show that don't come down for the San Antonio ones?

It's been a while since we've been up for an Austin show, might be time to drive up to see how things are...

major, usually the same major vendors do Todd's Austin show that do his Marbach show. You'd see a slightly different variety at the Exposition hall show because that is a different promoter (Vicky)

I'm tempted, since my trip on Sunday was cancelled; but I'm not sure my teenage son will want to get early to go to another gun show...

Anyone else from San Antonio thinking of heading up? Maybe we can carpool...

    Cheers! M2

Well... I work in Austin, and I work overnight Friday, so I'll be there already when I get off at 7 on Saturday morning. I'll just have a nice little breakfast, relax, and mosey on over there about 9.

Probably going to go early sat to see if any used .357 wheel guns or 1911's are hanging around. Do they usually have good prices on powders and primers there?

I got there around 3:30 today (Saturday) and AJC - which pretty much has the best combination of selection and prices in the show - had sheets draped over everything except some AR's. I asked one of the guys what was going on and he said there was a two hour wait for a background check so they shut the tables down. I was very disappointed because AJC is the main reason I go to this show, but good for them that they did so well today.

Maybe the other vendors can take note - offer a large selection at competitive prices and you'll have more business than you can stand.

Honestly, I've seen long lines at Allan's tables at the SA SAXET show as well; but I've never seen them shut down the tables. He has some of the best prices for new guns at the show (and a lot of my money over the years, but it was for good reason!) so it's not surprising that he'd be busy; but to actually shut down is. Maybe he hadn't planned for so much business, but it looks bad on one of the best large-scale vendors in the area...

Other than that, how was the show? Thought about going up, but other things came up so I didn't get the chance.

    Cheers! M2

The Austin show is OK, compared to the one that used to be on Lamar, but compared to what it was beginning of last year it's crap. I'd go to the one every month in SA if it wasn't such a long drive. I'll plan on twice a year for now. I've never bought a New gun at a show, only from private sellers walking around, and the SA show has like 10 times more people walking around than Austin.. Austin is a poor representation of what a Texas gun show should look like.. That said, I've had good luck selling a couple of AR's at the Austin show, since most of the dealers prices are too high. I'm just glad we have a show to go to.
