So as you know I sent Keltec a email last night regarding the rust issues as I have has the gun about 6 months with very minimal use and having quite a bit of rust issues.

I sent them a pertty stern but nice email regarding the situation> They responded this morning:

Keltec Email:::::: I’m very sorry to hear that. Unfortunately finishes aren’t covered by the warranty after the first 30 days, but I would recommend sending the slide and barrel in to be parkerized, which will stand up much better under heat and humidity. We offer this service for $60+$10 return shipping. Send only your slide and barrel to the address below with a note stating your name, address, phone number and what you’d like done. Someone will call you then for a credit card number. It shouldn’t take more than a couple weeks at most.

no sir, FoBUS which stickout about .5 inches away from body and about 1 full inch on top. These guns are notourious for being NEW IN BOX with surface rust. Horrible in myopinion and anyone with common sense as well. I love the gun except for this issue.

WHO HONESTLY THINKS THIS GUN NOW HAS HELD ITS VALUE UPON POSSIBLE RESALE EVER...none AND IT pissed me off. I should have kept my smith wesson 9mm i bought before this gun. never had any issues with it, just had to sell it when times got tough.

A $219 gun that doesn't hold its resale value? The horror! :ohnoes:

Seems pretty straightforward. $60 is a fair deal for a trip to the Parkerizing tank. Most places charge a hundred bucks for just the slide.

It's a Keltec. There's a reason they haven't knocked Ruger, S&W, Colt, etc. out of business.

If you can't afford a new coating, then try changing how you protect the coating you have. There are anti-corrosion chemicals (Barricade is pretty good) that can help with the corrosion you have now. If you don't address the chemistry of the corrosion cells that are already started, you can't keep them from continuing to get worse. Additionally, try using wax instead of oil to protect the surface. Get a can of Minwax furniture wax from WalMart or Sears Hardware. (One can will last you 20 years.) After cleaning the gun, spray it with Barricade (or equivalent), then wipe it down and use a thin layer of wax to protect it.

Also dont you think they mean the slide and as the only other internal is the barrel and spring, dont think thats the main issue. Point is they should replace it entirely or figure a way for a brand new product not to have rust issues EVEN BEFORE IT REACHES THE FIRST BUYER EVER>

Assuming you bought it brand new, did you read the manual or warranty that says "finishes aren’t covered by the warranty after the first 30 days"?

You wouldnt buy a jennings and expect it perform flawlessly.

Yours was not rusted out of the nox. It was rusted 6months after you bought it. If that was a known issue why did you buy it. They states their warranty was 30 days for the finish, and you got 6 months out of it. They do not knoe if you wear it tucked in ypur waistband or your pocket. They stated a resolution, and you do not like it and are upset that your rust started aftee warranty
    expired.

Nobody is the bad guy. Its was your choice if you didnt read the warranty info. But had you, you would have been a little more informed about the warranty period on the finish.

smartass guy here. Show me where a brand new pf-9 is 219. NOW, show me now

    Now?

Jerry's Sports Center. Just ordered six of 'em yesterday. Blue were $219, chrome were $249, same as they have been all year. Not rare, and not valuable. Nice little guns; I have two in my own stash of toys.

Look....you bought a $200 gun. WTF did you expect?!??? I ain't jumpin' on you, nor even sayin' you're bad - but for Pete's sake dude - a $200 price on ANY gun should tell you that they've cut serious corners in MANY places.

As noted - $60 to refinish is actually a VERY fair price. Pay it or not - but recognize that one of the reasons many folks stay away from guns at those kinds of price points is exactly what you're finding out first hand.

smartass guy here. Show me where a brand new pf-9 is 219. NOW, show me now

    Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm 7rd BL/BLK [PF-9] - $227.80 : Lanbo's Armory, Firearm Accessories and Tactical Gear

out of stock though but hey you ask you receive. CTD (cheaper than dirt) routinely has this piston on sale for under $230.

Sorry about the rust issues on your Kel-Tec. I gave up on the brand after owning a jam-o-matic PF-9 (hard chrome no less). My P3AT (hard chrome) was a shooter but I couldn't stand the trigger.
