Well said! Outstanding philosophy! Not all of us are young and strong anymore or attend a lot of training but if it gets serious, I'm gonna' try to do something. I'm older than most of you but I'm healthy (6'1" at 194) and best of all, I carry a .45 every day of my life. As Sterling said, if the shootin' starts ........... like I think it was what Burt Reynolds said in a movie when they had him tied to a rail outside the saloon and the guys that were kickin' his ass finally got tired and and grinned at him and said "what now?". He looked up all bruised and bloody and calmly said, "You better kill me." Classic line!

I just think the teargas would have seriously blinded you, making it next to impossible to aim in the dark. Of course if I got my chance I'd take it, but at that point, if I couldn't see, I'd have probably hit the floor and played dead. Because the chance of you hitting him is drastically decreased by firing blindly, and the chance of hitting a bystander is drastically increased. I'm still in shock how that whole thing went down, still trying to process it.

One thing is for certain though, even though I highly doubt a typical CHL holder could have gained the upper hand here, this event only makes me not want to leave home unarmed even more, exponentially.

This college student who was collecting unemployment was able to buy $20,000 worth of weapons and gear and carry out a plan that would appear to be the work of a highly trained killer. Yeah, I'm believing less and less he was acting alone. This was not just murder this was pure terrorism, either way you look at it.

If he were highly trained a lot more than 12 people would be dead. The guy reloaded several times, and nobody fired back.

i agree to a point just a question if that were your wife and kids there body armor gas what ever
are you just going to sit there? its been proven here that i am a jokester and not the sharpest knife in the drawer but armor or not i am going to at least give coverfire till they get out of there and if requires my life so be it.
in the end GOD MAKES THE FINAL CALL another question i you just happen not to be there would you at least not want me to give it a try
to clear your family to? i know that this makes me sound small but we have become a country of cowards we just look at other peoples trouble and say tisk tisk and say to bad and go about our business.
what purpose does it serve? If we say color or anything else matters not and then not prove it come test time what good are we:patriot::patriot:

Wow Sterling, I couldn't agree more or said it better.

I still don't believe he acted alone. Of course I have nothing but intuition and suspicion to go on, but if I had to guess I'd say this was an attack orchestrated by him and at minimum one other person. We'll see as more of the downright disgusting facts of this incident are revealed. One thing is for sure, this guy didn't suddenly just "snap" and do this. This was definitely premeditated and had been planned out for quite some time.

Well honestly, with the treacherous shit that is going on in the world today, it is safe to say that nothing is ever as it seems on the surface. Something about this shooting tells me there is much more to it than one guy who suddenly snapped and decided to murder a bunch of people. Where did he get the $$$ for all this gear from, is my first question? A college student on unemployment....

More than that is the way he carried out the attack, it's just not your typical "mass shooting" like the Seattle, VA Tech, Loughner or Luby's shooting. The gas, gas mask, body armor and everything else makes this a real life action movie with a horrific ending. I wouldn't hesitate to call this terrorism because that's exactly what it is.

And I'm sorry but the significance of this UN Arms Trade treaty signing being 5 days away is kinda hard to ignore. I mean maybe it means nothing, maybe it IS just a coincidence, but this just seems all too perfect for the anti gunners and their agenda. I'm sure most of us agree that Fast and Furious was a staged massacre facilitated to make a case for stronger gun control, do we not? Well if we do, then we agree that the government is definitely working pretty damn hard to generate anti gun sentiment across the country.

I know this shooting in Colorado is not Fast and Furious, and there is no way to prove or even confirm whether or not this guy was acting alone, or if he had some help. The fact that he just sat there waiting for police baffles me though. Among many other facts of this case that are just extremely peculiar. Like I said, I only know as much as I've heard, which is the same as what you guys have heard, but if you look at the internet stories going around today, the comments being made, the Brady Campaign website and the demonization of the NRA in the last 48 hours, it really does make me wonder.

I read a comment earlier it said, "I love guns like everyone else, but I think the NRA has gone completely wacko like the wacko far right, I am withdrawing my membership and encourage everyone to do the same!". Now at first you probably think this is really just some disillusioned gun owner (obviously a liberal), but I personally think it's an anti gunner trying to turn people against the NRA because the NRA are the only ones standing between gun rights and gun control. They hate it. The call for tougher gun control started going out before the damn smoke had cleared from this fools guns! Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe this just happened to be purely considental, at absolutely perfect timing for the antis as to push their agenda. Obama dropping his campaign and going straight back to DC seriously makes me wonder what "Executive Order" we will see or hear about in the next week.

I think the stupidest arguement I've heard from mouths is regarding a baby at the theater. My kids would sleep through a hurricane when they were infants. If the time of night was the only way for my family to hang and the baby happened to be asleep, who cares. It's not a bar, its not a smoke filled environment, its a movie.

Fight or flight....I'm not going to judge. Wasn't my life in danger or my mind thinking in that split second. I can only say that I hope my training would take over and contribute to the survival of those around me and ultimately myself as well.

Didn't read the entire article cause I'm tired as hell but I do believe generations are being raised now to "du k and cover". A kid can stand up to a bully in school and wind up in more trouble than the bully because he should have just told a teacher. They grow up with it pounded in their head that when threatened they should now down and hope for the best until some one comes along to save them.

I was picked on in school for being skinny and not having the "cool" stuff. In 8th grade I made a choice and decided I didn't like being slapped in the back of the head, I turned and hit a guy twice my size with everything I had. I was then knocked to the floor. I GOT BACK UP AND DID IT AGAIN. I hit the floor 4 times that day and had a migraine for 2 more days. Probably would have met tile a few more times but the last time I got up he was gone, I was told he walked off with a busted lip and tears welling up and I had no more problems.

I learned a good lesson that day and will fully back my children if they ever feel the need to defend theirselves and hope they can avoid all the brain washing that they should wait for someone else to defend them.

I will not stand by and let myself be a victim.

    Couple thoughts.....
    1. Sadness for victims
    2. Anger at this pos.
    3. The question of why nobody fought back doesn't seem intriguing to me. He's shooting. People go other way. Except for some questiona, ble reports about point blank to baby, my figuring would be he kept space between crowd and him.
    4. The Brady bunch people's call for no sales to mental, felons, etc. is their rushing to end the gun show loophole (aka private individual sales not b eing monitored)..
    5. CHOw who tried to intervene would likely die. Aside from superior firepower and gas, GBP guy prob wouldn't see armor through gas, so would shoot centermass . This wouldn't Di tricki, so rifle guy shoots GBP holder..

Ain't gonna' happen. Enacting more legislation will only make more criminals out of otherwise law abiding folks.

And the thugs will still have guns!
